'All-clear' given at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base after report of active shooter prompts lockdown

DAYTON, Ohio — An "all-clear" has been given at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton after a report of an active shooter locked down the base for more than four hours Thursday night.

Wright-Patt tweeted the lockdown was put in place at 9:25 p.m.

After conducting several sweeps of the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC), the all-clear was given.

Not able to find a lot of information so far as this just recently happened. “Security Forces are currently sweeping the building. The base is on lockdown. More info to be provided when available,” the 88th Air Base Wing said on Twitter.





Theres not a lot of talk so far... but reporters are there.

Channel 7 WHIO had it on the 11:00 pm news and broke into Bull around 10:25 - 10:40 or so. Didn’t say much other than the automatic active shooter announcement was on the PA and that Wright-Pat said it was not a drill.

Okay. Two guys working at the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) building reported a single gunshot at 9pm Eastern Time. This placed Wright-Pat into lockdown. A search of the immediate building and grounds was conducted twice but being a large building with many rooms requiring clearance to enter, took until 1:30 am to give the All Clear.

The below is from the Colonel from Wright Patterson explaining what happened and what they did during the 'lockdown and 'sweep'.

A (supposed) gunshot was heard and reported, they did what they are trained to do during an "active-shooter" event.

I'll keep it in mind.
