Silly subject...but, even though Joe Biden is still a racist, imbecile, whom I didn't vote for...this is a fun story...

We have two hummingbird feeders in our yard...which need refilled every day.
This morning, I went out to take them in to refill.

I went out for the first feeder...and as I was taking it down, one of our hummingbirds flew right up to my face...hovered to keep my attention...then flew over to about six feet from the other feeder...came back to me...hovered in front of my face again...then flew off to a nearby tree to wait.

I SWEAR it was telling me: "GOOD!...I see your refilling the feeders...DON'T forget to refill the other one!

I just love these little bastards.

I don't know if it is the same one coming back every year or what, but we joke about one being in love with my husband. If he is outside in the evening, it buzzes him, goes and sits on the feeder, then buzzes him again. And if another one comes around?
It peeps at them, and chases them away.
I never knew they made noises until that happened.

They are such amazing little creatures.

Lol...

This literally happened to me 20 mins ago out back. I have 4 feeders, the little guy flew right up to my face and chirped a wee bit like he was saying thank you👍🏼😆

Edit: add a little extra sugar to the mix. 👍🏼😊

Ok, first of all, the way you began your thread had me laughing my arse off. Just had to start it off with the obligatory Biden slam...subtle.

But onto hummingbirds. I saw a brief video on this kid (I think around 16) who rescued a dying hummingbird, nursed it back to health and is now his, for lack of a better word...pet. He takes it outside where it flies around and does hummingbird things. He whistles when it's time to come inside and the hummingbird flies over and lands on his finger and they go inside together (the bird lives with him in his room). Pretty amazing thing. I live in LA and we've a ton of them where I am. I, like you, adore these little bastards.

Just like humans — they have their addictions.

These suckers get incredibly territorial / aggressive when indulging on their sugar water.

Especially the ones with red in their feathers.

Tweakers!

They aren't humming birds.
Remain stationary.
Don't speak.

They're hunter killer drones.

LOL

Hummingbirds are the coolest.

I saw this vid on a nature show and was glad to find it on The Tube:

This woman has experimented with birds baths and showers for hummingbirds, and has desinged a couple that the hummingbirds love.

had a bunch of hummers a few years ago
one day I took the feeder in to clean / refill
brought it out, one buzzed me
I stood still and it fed while I was holding it
way kewl

one stays in a tree near the feeder and chases others away. I call him 'Captain Alpha'.

We have a super aggressive hummie we have nicknamed The Hitman. He likes to sit in a bush near the feeder. When he spots another hummie at the feeder, he flies full speed towards it to chase it off. One day he hit another so hard that he knocked it unconscious.

Every morning, I sit on the back porch with coffee and a smoke.
And every morning one of the 3 letter agencies sends the same hunter/killer humming bird.
It flies in, stops about a foot in front of my face, hoovers for a few seconds doing its facial recognition thing, and then, varoom, it buzzes off.
Every morning!
(. . . and I do not have, no have I ever had, a hummingbird feeder or flowering shrubs of any kind.)

drones.
