I'm not sure you can quantify what "most" of the Afghan people want. For sure there were people who are happy to see us leave.

On the other hand, all those people swarming the planes as they're trying to leave sure didn't seem excited to see us leave. More like panicked. You have to be scared out of your mind to cling to the outside of a plane as it's leaving the ground.

I doubt all the girls who finally got to go to school or were able to leave their homes without a male escort without getting honor-killed wanted us to leave.

OK, a large enough number wanted us out to take over the country before we got everyone out. I do feel that we made a difference to a lot of the people of Afghanistan. It is a tragedy for the ones we helped the most, the women, the girls, the ones that did not want the Taliban in charge. Biden has now thrown that all away along with the sacrifice of all the troops.

The Taliban had a single mission and stuck to it, wait out the enemy.

This is just terrible. Think of people so simple who have just had their first decade of life outside of fundamentalist Islam, a factually horrible thing, yet still just simple people who are so simple, they dont understand anything about temperature, speed, atmosphere, oxygen vs altitude, hypoxia, I mean...they think they just need to jump on like they do on the bed of a truck and that will take them to wherever the people inside are going. And to watch them learn the hard way....my God...

I dont believe one bit of the story but it's real enough that the world is eating it up and real people are really dying.

Just to be clear, you don't believe what exactly? That people tried to hang onto the planes and fell to their deaths?

If so, what exactly about that is hard to believe? People do all kinds of things that won't necessarily make sense to you or I. People have literally burned themselves to death, on purpose.

How long was the flight? Obviously those aren't ideal conditions. What if someone has a medical emergency in the middle of that sardine can?
