For a large portion of history, the ability to read and write was reserved for the elite in society; nobility, priests. For a good portion of the history of the US, it was purposely withheld from minorities. As each year passes by, the decisions being made by government and academia, makes it clear the elite want to return to the old world status quo of mentally handicapped slaves.

Kids don't need to have read Dostoevsky, and write an essay on social politics to get into trade school.

Basic math skills should get you out of high school, not into engineering. Not everyone is math inclined. Personal injury lawyers don't need to know calculous.

Don't get me wrong, there still should be a wide curriculum from which students should be able to thrive, including shop classes, literature, and STEM sciences.

No, actually this will make them dumb(er). Why is it that your party thinks black people are too stupid to get educated in the things we've been getting educated in since school began? Why is that your party thinks black people are too stupid to get a valid identification?

That's exactly what the plan is. The Democrats will scream about racism and offer carrot-on-a-stick handouts when nobody is hiring unemployable blacks that can't read or write, and the unemployable and unemployed blacks will vote for the Democrats to fight the evil racism and keep the handouts coming. Then the Democrats will perpetuate the problem to create more future voters.
This is what the Democrats have a history of doing... Create problems for the black community and then run on those problems while offering solutions that just make the problems worse long-term.

Seems to be the racism of low expectations to me. They seem to genuinely believe that minorities are incapable of grasping simple mathematics or understanding literature.

Personally, i would think the problem lies elsewhere than the implied intellectual inferiority of minority races, but then again i’m not racist.

A basic education from the 1980's vs an education from today is like a college senior vs a Kindergarten student. I'd be willing to bet that a 2021 Senior doesn't know what a 1985 middle schooler knew. Everything besides the real problem gets blamed and every solution hurts the kids. You can't even discipline the kids, without that, education is useless because most kids will never learn.

Of course it's the plan. Everything they've done to "help" the black community since their inception has been designed to do the opposite. This is the party of Jim Crow after all. Gun control has its roots in keeping arms away from freed blacks. No party switch happened, it's the same Democrats.

The bill doesn't do that. In fact, it doesn't DO anything but require anything but a review, evaluation and recommendations, on diploma requirements, with an emphasis on career goals rather than liberal arts academia.

Soo now, in the name of equality if you child can not read or wright is ok, he still will pass the grade and graduate high school, I am sure that it will colleges out there that will teach him something with out the need to read or write.

Education has been one of the greatest enablers that has helped literally millions pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

None of our education systems are perfect - far from it over here in the UK.
In an ideal situation education would be tailored for individual skills, abilities and interests.
But that costs money......

None of that detracts from the need to teach maths, English language and comprehension skills to a desirable level.
Race should have zero bearing on that.

That is quite correct. That is how the elite controlled the masses for centuries. Keep em dumb, control them.
