I love stuff that goes bang but recently I learned on ATS that I support Mao and Stalin...go figure

Ha, me too, I have lots of airguns, can shoot those in my yard..within reason. The real deals are a bit more difficult here, at the range is about the only place to shoot those.

That sucks. Where I'm from, we can step in our back yards and shoot pistols or high powered rifles. No range necessary.

If I was in the US, that would be me..I would enjoy the right to do so.

I don't do it often due to ammunition being so expensive/hard to come by, but it's very convenient and so much nicer not to have to pack up what you want to shoot and drive to a range. The only complaint I've ever gotten came when an elderly lady visiting her son a couple houses down called the police when my father-in-law was sighting his 45/70 for 150 yards so he could hunt out of my back yard later that year. His 45/70 sounds like a frickin cannon going off so it scared the old lady.

I've taken several of my daughters friends to the range over the years. Most of them say it was fun but have very little interest but one of them loved skeet shooting.
She joined the local conservation club and shoots twice a week with the men of the club.

Last year they bought her a double barrel for her birthday.
She was using a cheap auto loader.

Same here ATA!!

I remember Dad got me one when I was little, even before my first rifle which was a model 513 .22 lr

My youngest daughter was the first of mine to have an interest in weapons, and I got her a new fangled CO2 powered pellet gun to work with. Probably about a year later got both 10/22's and eventually a .243 Savage

Fond memories and things you never ever forget

Lucky!

My neighbor's boy always enjoyed coming out shooting, so on his 18th Birth Day I got him a Glock 19 modified by Agency Arms (love that outfit) he even followed through with the NFA stamp and Silencerco suppressor

Same

In fact, if Mrs. Burns would allow it I could sit in my Kitchen and take shots out the back door or window

I would have to check whether those airguns are allowed in the Netherlands but they are sweet!!

I recently moved back to the country side and I finally have some room to take up this old hobby.

You have some of the best laws for airguns for that part of the world I would definitaly take advantage of that

Any airgun .357 or above they have a arrow for also so you don't have to buy one just for arrows

About 27 years ago, we took some Japanese engineers out to shoot in the mountains. 357 mag. They were stoked. Cigarette butts in their ears. Right off the bat, one of them was a marksman. They had the time of their life. We all wore our side arms on our hips around the campfire.

Can't have guns where I'm from but for some reason crossbows aren't a problem.

Had my trusty Crisbow Cheetah mark 4 forever.

(pic not mine, I have a black one)

Recently decided to go for the Ravin R29X.

YES .
We can't hunt with crossbows here (unless onr is handicapped with a special permiy)
I have my old Ben Pearson Bear recurve bow.
Nuthin like it .

Doth likes

That's where a good airgun can be fun, and cheap to shoot! once over the cost of rifle and charging system. I like .22, thinking of a .25, they have .30, .357/9mm, .45, even .50! My .22 gets 50-100 shots a fill, based on how I tune the pressure, and hammerspring. It can do 1" group at 100yrds. I'm just a target shooter/plinker, but you can do some serious hunting with some of these.

Yeah stereotypes...some people are really guided by that.

Personally I don't have a problem with guns, it's shooting people I have a problem with.

Ummm…well…

Then don’t shoot people…

That’ll be a buck three eighty nine…consultancy fee…

Tips fedora…

Gotta love that shockwave…

I have only tried 1 slug in my .22, didn't really work out great, barely made it out the barrel, it is a choked barrel, I do know people are successfully using slugs with this rifle, so just have to find what they are using. Anything interesting, I have to find online..lots of stuff out of stock in general.

Glad to hear you enjoy it.

I am personally anti-gun laws. I don't think other citizens - through government - have any right to dictate how I exercise my 2A. Just my opinion, you are of course entitled to yours as well

Nonetheless, glad you have something to enjoy with your father that time you spend together he will never forget and hopefully you do not either

Not much into hunting myself, have gone a few times, mostly just enjoy the weaponry and feeling of confidence in knowing I can protect my family & way of life with significant force should either be threatened

How about gun training licenses? There needs to be some way to limit who can have a gun. The mentally unstable should not be able to have a firearm.

Training is crucial, the problem I see is when you think about other gun laws (and laws in general) and how poorly they are usually written. It leaves a lot up in the air or to the courts, or ends up providing "loopholes" that nullify the teeth of the law while still putting the same burden on the rest of us

For instance, training programs operated by a wide variety of clubs, civic organizations, private & public instructors would ensure equal access to the training (and ability to carry a firearm) and prevent any one organization from intentionally creating barriers to entry (such as charging $25000.00 for the class) and could work

There are actually quite a few gun laws on the books, and the majority of them are not currently being properly enforced or enforced on a wide scale. This is good or bad depending on how you look at it, but it does result in many cases against prohibited persons in possession rarely ever being followed up on by the ATF or state authorities. Less than 1% of cases I believe

I also agree that mentally unstable folks should qualify for a period of disability, provided due process is followed and the person presents a danger to themselves or someone else. Just have to be careful here as well, because what about issues like Depression or Anxiety? There are quite a few folks who suffer with those, and although they are technically mental illnesses (albeit temporary ones in many cases) the vast majority of those afflicted with those conditions do not commit acts of violence.

Although I'll take the wins where we can get them (lives saved), a large majority of murders and crimes involving firearms are conducted by gangs and others involved in the criminal elements, and would not be as affected by training requirements (by this I mean most are already prohibited possessors of any firearms they own)

It just seems like it could be a very slippery slope if it was not considered carefully. Just my 2cents! But the other side of me says never say no to training, its a great thing and there are dozens of classes you can take to make you a safer gun-person, increase the proficiency of your craft and generally become more knowledgeable on firearms and the other areas of study like defensive gun use, shooting proficiency, timed drills, decision making...even to functional concepts like low light, long range shooting, shotguns, indoor, that type of thing

It seems you are interested in this topic and I sincerely hope my post does not appear dismissive in any way. I am genuinely interested in discussing the training angle. I always encourage folks who carry or own guns to get trained up, from safety to any subject that interests them. But always starting with safety, it is a foundational concept and a core part of the true "gun culture"
