Most of the London flooding at this time of year is flash flooding caused by neglected drains. Drains neglected by the private monopoly of Thames Water, owned by the Ontario public sector pension fund and the Kuwaiti government - because it's OK if foreign goverments own our essential infrastructure instead of us. Because market forces or capitalism or something.

flooding seems to be more frequent and widespread in recent years than i remember previously. many english villages barely finish repairing the damage from the previous year, only to have it happen again, but worse each time.

Let's keep an eye open for news about the Isle of Ely Fens, which are technically below sea-level. Once those waters come down from the Midland hills...

Thing there is that in the last five years the sea level has risen 66% faster than the historical rate.

If that were ever to become a trend, which it may very well do, the risk of serious flooding in the next few decades along our costal areas becomes a serious problem.

From what I can gather when we go into solar minimum, there is more gamma radiation getting ejected from the Sun, which allows droplets of water to form in the atmosphere and thus help it to rain more.
