Police feared a “Las Vegas style shooting” during All-Star Game in Denver

Sounds like they stopped a potential threat, but in this day and age, you just can't always be 100% certain anymore. Let's face I always thought there would have been more found out by now on the Vegas shooting. This had 4 persons arrested however so it isn't likely it's the lone nut theory like in the Paddock case.

DENVER – Police feared a “Las Vegas style shooting” during the All-Star Game in Denver after receiving a tip from a maid working at a hotel not far from Coors Field, who discovered more than a dozen weapons and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition inside one of the rooms Friday night.

Multiple informed law enforcement sources connected with the investigation told Denver7’s Liz Gelardi and Denver7 chief investigative reporter Tony Kovaleski that they intercepted the weapons inside a room on the eighth floor of the Maven Hotel as All-Star Game celebrations get underway.

Sources said police removed 16 long guns, body armor and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition from the room with a balcony overlooking the downtown area. The sources said they feared the number of weapons, ammo, vantage point and large crowds could have resulted in a Las Vegas style shooting.

Based on the information provided by the hotel employee, police executed a search warrant and found the guns, ammo, body armor and a man inside the room on the eighth floor.

One of the suspects arrested Friday night had posted a message on Facebook referencing a recent divorce and saying he was going to “go out in a big way,” according to multiple law enforcement sources.

The Facebook message says it all.

But what about the other three men, were they going to participate or were they only facilitating a lone shooter.

Either way it does sound like there was going to be another mass shooting.

Scary times when a person who goes through a rough patch, like we ALL do, decides to say screw it and wants to kill innocent lives.

More fuel for the gun grabbers. MSM will eat this up and regurgitate it for a few weeks.

Sounds very staged. The whole thing was discovered because they did not put the 'do not disturb' sign on the door?

Not saying some people don't go nuts that way but it is just too convenient. Smart enough to arrange everything else but the sign?

Seems awful sloppy. That must have required a fair amount of thought, planning, and effort to get everything there...

Yet their whole plan was foiled because they forgot to hang the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the doorknob.

I can see one person wigging out from a divorce and going bug chit crazy but how do the 3 others fit in?

The article doesn't actually say they were all connected to the room, or to each other. I mean, you would assume that they are all connected in some way, but it doesn't actually say that...

It makes me wonder if maybe a couple of them weren't just very unlucky, and happened to be at the wrong place at the absolute worst time, being armed and with drugs while the SWAT Team all surrounded & entered the Hotel.

Yea it's unclear at the moment, I mean hell who knows? Were all the guns his? was he just gonna sell them and have a blowout party? It wouldn't be the first time a police informant set up something to get a lesser sentence, hell there could be a myriad of reasons.

I wonder if maybe the Hotel has some new regulations or whatever types of extra excessive cleaning they're doing because of Covid, that has made it so it's no longer as simple as hanging up the 'Do Not Disturb' sign. Maybe he/they had hung up the sign when they left, but because of Covid, the maid is required to go in anyways.

Don't get me wrong likely some shady chit was going on, just not sure if it was gonna be a mass shooting or a drug and/or gun deal going on.

It certainly isn't as easy as hanging a "do not disturb" sigh on the door in order to keep the maid out. These high profile hotels have mandatory maid service and will ignore the "do not disturb" sigh after a given time. These new policies came about after the Vagas shooting.

And the guy could have been stupid enough not to know this.

But it does sound strange that he took all that time planning for this and didn't take the necessary precautions to hide his weapons from possibly being seen by hotel staff.... or maybe he did and was sloppy with just one of his items. The maid cleaned something he thought they never would.


The other people who where arrested are probably the people who sold him the weapons.

They make lockable gun cases for a reason.

One reason it sounds like a shady gun/drug deal of some sort, without much info it's stretching it a bit to call it stopping a mass shooting just yet. From the news

Saturday, DPD confirmed that search warrants were obtained for two rooms at the hotel and two vehicles were impounded. Evidence was recovered from the hotel rooms. Investigators planned to search the vehicles for evidence, according to the department’s press release.

The FBI’s office in Denver stated on social media Sunday morning saying, “We have no reason to believe this incident was connected to terrorism or a threat directed at the All-Star Game. We are not aware of any threat to the All-Star Game events, venues, players, or the community at this time.”

Funny how when an 'attack' occurs, it's so often a lone-gunman, but when they do these press-conferences about how awesome they are at foiling ' attacks ' : it's often multiple bad-guys, eh ?

So they just left everything in plain-sight, for some random 'maid' to discover ?
