Exactly. Any activity that seeks to stop others from expressing themselves by force is suppression of free speech. As long as people have the ability to speak their minds freely, they have free speech.

That includes censorship. Obviously, the government passing legislation that refuses to allow speech of any kind is suppression of free speech; it is nation-wide and applies to all forums. A group with enough control of a medium could be guilty of suppression of free speech, such as in the debate concerning the apparently coordinated actions of Facebook, Twitter, and Google. A single entity which does not control an entire medium, such as ATS, cannot be guilty of suppression of free speech. ATS does not have the power, as a single site with competition, to do so.

Indeed, the three giants mentioned above could not suppress free speech as long as they have effective competition. The problem is that Facebook, Twitter, and Google have an effective monopoly on social media at this time. Collectively they have no serious competition. As an established monopoly, any action to stifle competition in any way, such as preventing continued Internet access to start-ups like GETTR, is a major problem and should be shut down by the government under anti-trust law. When that does not happen, we have suppression of free speech, as well as an oligarchy on Internet communication.

It's really no different than having a single movie theater in an area which actively prevents the issuance of permits to build or operate another theater, then decides they will only play "Tinkerbell" movies. I'm sure those trying to excuse the hacking of GETTR would be outraged should that happen in their area.
