In many states historically MJ was a felony. Not sure how much you had to possess to get 10 years though. Probably those selling a large quantity.

In some countries drug possession can bring the death penalty.

From what I can see it's the people on probation that are going to prison. They violated their parole and now serve the sentence from their last court appearance.

The drugs are not why they go to prison.

As I said, some states marijuana is a felony regardless of amount.

Secondly, if someone is selling marijuana at scale, they may land in prison. If you get busted with 500 pounds of MJ in a truck, you likely are going to jail/prison.

Obviously, "intent to sell" is a different charge than simply possessing or smoking marijuana, but it is a marijuana charge none-the-less.

Also, to add fuel to the fire, many people don't know that even if one is in a legal state, if you use marijuana you are prohibited via the federal firearms form from buying a gun.

I'm not defending the "capitol stormers," but can you show me where the January 6th rioters rioted for 6 months, killed scores of people, burned entire neighborhoods?

Remember, most of us are not criticizing the BLM protesters who were actually peaceful, and many were. Who we are criticizing is the RIOTERS who burned neighborhoods, threw Molotov cocktails at police, and even killed people.

No, i wouldn't do different because i didn't see fit to storm the capital to overthrow the election. If i did, i'd have enough conviction to stand by my actions. Ill cop to not seeing this as a reason to march on DC, though.

It is weak AF, that's why they opted for herd mentality and intimidation tactics instead of going through designated channels to express their disagreement. The mob hysteria of this whole fiasco has been more than slightly off putting for any arbiter burdened with unraveling the Gordian knot of bad math. The auditors got the better deal for sure.
