Many of us have read how some university professor or someone in business has been arrested for spying and playing spy for the CCP. Here is one case that goes into more detail. The infiltration and true damage to America and the West security may never be known or revealed.

In late April, Massachusetts-based businessman Qin Shuren became the latest person to plead guilty in the Justice Department’s crackdown on the illegal export of strategic technologies.

Qin’s company, LinkOcean Technologies, falsified documentation to send a Chinese military-affiliated university some $100,000 worth of equipment, including hydrophones, sonobuoys, side-scan sonars, and even an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). The case is just one part of a long trail of open-source evidence that illustrates a larger issue: U.S. technology being used to advance Chinese military ends.

From this list, we learn that U.S. export controls have not prevented the lab from acquiring high-end research equipment from various U.S. firms like Sun Microsystems, Agilent Technologies, Tektronix, and Applied Dynamics International. The equipment listed includes servers, precision instruments, advanced welding machines, specialized modems for acoustic communications, and, most notably of all, an entire AUV from the American company OceanServer.

I think it’s deeper than that

Opinion: Explain the Chinese spy, Sen. Feinstein

Beijing has successfully recruited FBI agents and State Department employees as spies, and has used information from U.S. informants to kill more than a dozen CIA sources inside the regime. And now, we know China recruited a high-value Senate staffer who worked in immediate proximity to the head of the Senate Intelligence Committee.
Feinstein owes the country a detailed explanation of how she let a Chinese spy into her inner sanctum. And the media should give this security breach the same attention they would if it involved Russia and the Republicans.

Approximately 370,000 Chinese students attend our universities. Many of them major in STEM disciplines, depriving our own citizens of the limited openings in these fields, so vital to our future and prosperity. A huge number of Chinese scientists work in our national, university and private research laboratories. I have no idea how many are Chinese citizens or naturalized Americans; it would be interesting to know. It's simply insane how we eagerly educate the best and brightest of the most dangerous enemy we've ever faced.

Good lord, everyone is doing it!

United States intelligence operations abroad From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I think the issue is that the current political US elites allow it to happen in the United States.

China cleaning house of US informants vs Feinstein retiring her Chinese informant driver with no legal action against him. All the way to US colleges welcoming and selling out to China that does seek to harm the USA. To aiding gain of function research In Wuhan. There is a difference in open and free trade VS being militant in opposing a country. And using essentially slave labor.

So. Taiwan is a country that should be free of Chinese rule?

Every country has spies.

I wasn't defending any country in my post.

You continue to mis-read what people are saying.

China has become a master at the theft of academic, commercial and military intellectual property and secrets. Their ecomonic developmnet is based on theft.

The scandal is that politicians in the developed world - not just the US - have through their inaction, effectively legitimised this behaviour.

Too right Paraphi
The memory of a local British machine manufacturer I dealt with back in the day, China came in asked for quotes in machinery, all going well for upto 20 - 40m machines. Asks for trial machine to be sent over for tests, next thing it is returned back crated up in a fortnight back to British mainland. They'd copied every part in a matter of days used this created dozens of their own in house, paid jack sjit for rights / patents. They played dirty back then to set up their industry I guess it's just same old game being played out today. It's not that you can't trust them as a race but as a society they are as devious as they come and if not stopped will eat us up long term.

It is as you state simply insane how we educate the Chinese. Same thing happened here at Manchester a few years ago with the lightweight materials in incident and Chinese 'students' (spies) getting educated by the Uni, then we had the same at Rolls Royce (engines) creeping into the company and stealing its secrets before being trimmed out.

It gets even more insane that on top of educating a people that could barely grow a paddyfield of rice when I was a kid, we then fund the building of their industrial and military development back home by throwing masses of western currencies at their door by naively buying their fixed currency exports, plus destroying our local communities back here by ripping out our native industry and condemning our western populations to a spiral of job loss, insecurity, doom and gloom then the smack and coke comes in with the associated mafia, crimes, corruption and it's like Stalingrad in our own streets.

If there's a conspiracy theory that is going on for real the destruction of western communities by this shift in power needs assessing and at some point putting right assuming that this is actually possible and not too late already.

One way or another China needs reigning in

I seem to remember Clinton approving the sale of specialized milling equipment to the Russians. Equipment that would allow them to make quieter and more efficient propellers for their submarines. Let's not forget Hilary's bathroom server with the convenient back door to the Chinese.
