The death of the military-industrial complex

Eisenhower gave rise to one of the most memorable lines in history when he warned of the power of the military and industry keeping war going.

It no longer exists.

Look at the wars of the future and you will see why. Small scale, hyper fast squirmishes will be the wave.

U.S. troops in Somalia, Bosnia and Iraq.

The French in the Ivory Coast.

There is no money to be made in any of these countries. Look at the fact that it will 2009 before Iraq catches up to pre war production to see that so all you anti war people just hush.

China will never invade Taiwan. Never. Financialy it is suicide for the Politbureau. They would have a popular uprising that would make the French Revolution look like a tea party.

Weapons are Star Wars now. BUt business rules. War is bad for business. Haliburton is too big to live off of war contracts alone so once again anti war people calm down.

If there is a conspiracy it is for business to prevent war. What do you guys think?

Ummmm.... it seems there are dozens of separate points of evidence for how the war in Iraq has brought humongous profits to capitalist cronies of the corrupt administration that conducted the foreign incursion... from the old thousand dollar hammers to price gouging on the importation of gas to Iraq to $9 billion missing, unaccounted for.

Fast-buck merchants abound in the game of war profiteering, and they have direct channels to "God" and his appointees. The game is not based on standard rules of ROI or EBIT goals or legitimate capital expenditure programs.

Yeah, I believe this belongs in New World Order or Govt. Conspiracies.

But to reply, I believe the old MIC has evolved, but is alive and kicking. Most are now calling it the New World Order or NWO. The faces have changed, but they are up their old tricks. I’ve been following the topic for some time. Halliburton is the poster child. If you notice, a lot of the corporate leaders are retired generals from the military.

Back in the 80's the Japanese had a saying "Business is war", well the MIC motto has always been "War is business". We have been discussing it on this thread.

Booger did you post this under Aliens and UFO's because you thought the MIC was responsible for the cover-up of UFO's? If so, that would be valid, but it was covered up mostly from the government. This is where the subject blends into government conspiracies. Otherwise, ask a mod to move it and you might get more responses.

A war is a war is a war. The United States has engaged in several small wars in recent history. The military industrial complex appears to be doing just fine from it although I'm sure most executives in the war industry continaully salivate over thoughts of profits from large scale assaults. Iran perhaps? The U.S. certainly hasn't stopped saber rattling and appears as aggressive as ever at this point.
