I remember when we lost to Germany a while back the commentator said "We shouldn't be upset that Germany has beaten us at our national game. We beat them twice, at theirs"

I think that's a variant of what was said BEFORE the 1966 final. I remember it as "We've already beaten them twice at their national game, let's see if we can beat them in our own."

You cant be serious?
I am most serious. It blows away the argument that playing all their group games at home was an advantage.
It wasn't though. Or do you think they won that game?
Anyone with half a football brain will tell you that playing at home is an advantage.

What advantage would San Marino have in playing England at home?
It's all down to the quality of the teams at the end of the day. If home advantage meant anything, every country that hosted the FIFA World Cup would do well. They don't.
Six times the host nation has won the tournament. Eight times they have made the final. Thirteen times the hosts have at least made the semi-finals.

Bag of Cheese n Onion and a bag of Pickled Onion for me.
I thought I'd show my support for Spain by partaking in a bottle of Rioja.
Not being a big wine drinker I haven't got a large selection of wine in the house but I was sure I had a bottle somewhere.
I couldn't find it so I decided to switch allegiance to Italy; I was 100% certain I had a case and a half of Peroni.
Having made a large dent in the supply of Peroni I thought I'd warm up for tomorrow night and have a sneaky Gordons Gin and Tonic which I planned to celebrate with - hopefully I am not putting the horse before the cart here - tomorrow night.
Obviously I also have a large supply of John Smiths ready.
Well have a guess what?
No gin.
It seems like the drink fairy has been helping herself and 'forgetting' to let me know.
2 bottles of Mateus Rose gone and half a bottle of Kraken Rum as well.
She is banished to the spare bed.
Mateus Rose? How 70s.
