Hi guys there are passages in the Bible that talk about a canopy, a covering of water that protected the planet from the sun's rays and formed a vapor mist. Everything at that time was of large dimensions: the trees, the fruits, the animals and the human beings were much taller and lived many many many years, the average life expectancy was between 700 and 1000 years, and I don't think this is a translation error in the Bible because the planet at that time had conditions that allowed man to live for so long (you can see examples of this in fossilized insects).

When this canopy, this cover was destroyed or disappeared, the universal flood happened, which all cultures speak of in their traditions. The waters above that formed the canopy poured into the oceans and created a flood. With the end of this canopy, the harmful rays of the sun began to penetrate the Earth and affected living beings; curiously, it was after the flood that human beings began to live fewer and fewer years, until this day when the average life expectancy is of 80+ years.

I believed that this could be a fantasy, a biblical metaphor (and no i'm not even religious), but I found texts that talk about something similar in African culture and in the shamanic teachings of Credo Mutwa, a well-known South African healer. In these African traditions, they speak of a water vapor mist that covered the entire planet and prevented the propagation of the sun's rays throughout the planet, of the arrival of the moon (which would not be natural to our solar system), of a race called the Chitauri that would have contributed to the disappearance of this vapor mist and to our premature aging, and of course speaks of the universal flood.

Coincidence? What are the odds?

Well if the Chitauri are to blame, rest assured the Avengers will deal with them.

There are also texts which talk about there never being rain on the Earth before the Great Deluge even though the earth was lush. This is consistent with your water canopy.

The following verses, when read together, particularly in a literal translation, are enough
to cause one to suspect a canopy of sosne sort: Gen. 1:6,7; 2:5,6,10; 3:8; 6:17; 7:6-12,17-
8:2; 9:11,15,28; 10:1,32; 11:10; Psalms 18:11; 29:10; and.2 Peter 3:5,6.

Tfiese waters pictured in verse 2 called the waters above completely covered our planet, forming a hydrosphere upon the earth and apparently a hot, steamy atmosphere above "the face of the waters"

I believe it is an interpretation of Genesis.

It is a bit different in the old KJV version but basically the meaning is the same though instead of Sky the word Firmament is used.

And God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters, to separate the waters from the waters.” 7So God made the expanse and separated the waters beneath it from the waters above. And it was so. 8God called the expanse “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.…

Well the OP uses the bible so mixing references seems wrong. If you take the one word as true you need to include the rest of it.
Man originally lived forever or would have if he had nod fallen.

Seasons always existed

Genesis 8:22
While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”

There was a story from one of theses ATS threads that a person went through some sort of (porthole into another world) on his walk in the woods that brought him into a world of very extreme humidity and heat. The OP reminded me of that, now I can’t find the story.

The most complete Hebrew account is Little Genesis or best known as the book of Jubilees. You can down load from internet under Book of Jubilees. It is also written in the OT of Genesis in most bibles.

Jubilees -- Chapter 2:4,5
• And on the second day He created the firmament in the midst of the waters, and the waters were divided on that day -half of them went up above and half of them went down below the firmament (that was) in the midst over the face of the whole earth. And this was the only work (God) created on the second day.
• And on the third day He commanded the waters to pass from off the face of the whole earth into one place, and the dry land to appear.
• And the waters did so as He commanded them, and they retired from off the face of the earth into one place outside of this firmament, and the dry land appeared.
• And on that day He created for them all the seas according to their separate gathering-places, and all the rivers, and the gatherings of the waters in the mountains and on all the earth, and all the lakes, and all the dew of the earth, and the seed which is sown, and all sprouting things, and fruit-bearing trees, and trees of the wood, and the garden of Eden, in Eden and all plants after their kind.

Jubilees -- Chapter 5:31
And the waters disappeared from above the earth in the fifth week in the seventh year [1309 A.M.] thereof, and on the seventeenth day in the second month the earth was dry.

As the Creator created this world it was literally a unformed mud pie. As the world took form it was a mud ball encased in water. This is when God separated the water from the earth and the space that was left between the upper waters and lower waters became the firmament. This upper water was literally a canopy of water that encased the entire world and made it into a greenhouse effect. This greenhouse world remained in this state for well over 1600 years until the days of Noah.

As the flood of Noah came upon this world was when this canopy of upper water fell upon the world and destroyed the greenhouse world. This weight of water broke the mantels of this world and enlarged the world beyond imagination. It also changed the rotation of this world as well as the science of the sun and moon in relation to this world. This also changed the longevity of all life forms so say certain scholars.

Your opinion is just as good as my opinion is but the Hebrew bible does not teach flat earth. You are correct though in that all of this discussion is theology. The Torah portion of the Hebrew bible has many authors in that Torah was gathered information from the Hebrew tribes and some was written by Moses. Moses declares that God gave him the written as well as the oral Torah of the Hebrew Bible. I guess it is up to each of us what we want to believe.

I have found that much of Jubilees is also in Enoch one and two and has been found in the scrolls of the dead sea. I find it easier to believe that if that be true then it should have a little weight in favor of being true. Another thing to remember is that we have nothing in the original autographs of any MSS so all religions are in the same fix as we are. I guess that is why we must take Christianity by faith.
