Software giant Electronic Arts have become the latest developer to fall victim to Cyber criminals with the revelation that their system has been compromised , no player data was lost but 780GB of data including source code for its top games and it's Frostbite game engine has been taken.

In those forum posts the hackers said they have taken the source code for FIFA 21, as well as code for its matchmaking server. The hackers also said they have obtained source code and tools for the Frostbite engine, which powers a number of EA games including Battlefield. Other stolen information includes proprietary EA frameworks and software development kits (SDKs), bundles of code that can make game development more streamlined. In all, the hackers say they have 780gb of data, and are advertising it for sale in various underground hacking forum posts viewed by Motherboard

EA confirmed to Motherboard that it had suffered a data breach and that the information listed by the hackers was the data that was stolen.

"We are investigating a recent incident of intrusion into our network where a limited amount of game source code and related tools were stolen," an EA spokesperson told Motherboard in a statement. "No player data was accessed, and we have no reason to believe there is any risk to player privacy. Following the incident, we’ve already made security improvements and do not expect an impact on our games or our business. We are actively working with law enforcement officials and other experts as part of this ongoing criminal investigation."

I'm no fan of EA and its money grabbing policies but this is just wrong.

Nah, # EA, also, just think of all the cool frostbite engine mods now possible. Also again, # EA. I hope they go #ing bankrupt.

That company has been responsible for killing more game franchises i enjoyed than any other. Seriously # EA. They're also #ing terrible to their contractors and employees. It can't be said enough # EA...in the ear...with a rusty spike...

Fantastic news. EA is the cancer of the gaming community for years ! Hopefully this will force them to come out with new engines instead of the same old trash ones.

Good. I hope the hackers use the engine to make good games that come out complete without the money grabbing "expansions". Hope EA goes bankrupt as well.

Not gonna lie, screw EA. They have helped turn the gaming industry into a nickel and dime gong show.

On another note, I hope people who used their credit cards for payment haven't been compromised.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer, better company.

As much as I hate EA....I got nothing. Too bad it didn't happen to Activision.

Maybe they found Sims 5 while they were in there looking around

Eta: did yall know if you bought Sims 4 today, with all the expansions, it would cost you over 450 dollars?

For a game that's only enjoyable for 2 hours. (Sims is a guilty pleasure for me, ever since the first one. The first game was a staple at what the future of games and simulations had in store back in the day)

I don’t advocate for stealing property, but I hate that EA has ruined everything its touched in modern gaming. They used to be a rock solid company like Blizzard but a bloated company and appeasing investors over gamers got us to the gaming land scape we have today.

I take this thread as an opportunity to ask something that could be really relevant soon, with all these hackers around lately.

Do you think hackers like or hate guys like Gates, Zuckerberg and the other morons ?

Then there's SimCity, another beloved franchise which got EAed.

Thank God for Colossal Order and Cities:Skylines. (And for EA not buying & wrecking them too.)

I know! SimCity 4 is my favorite! Matter of fact, I was playing it today and never really stopped playing it since 2003.

Give me a cartridge or disc.

I don't like the online gaming, even though I did enjoy MW3 online..... Christmas noons....gotta love them.

Haven't played one of their games since the PS2 era but they were crappy back then, can't imagine they've improved since then.

Call of Doody is just e-peen pandering and has no intristic value other than w go at society imposes upon it.

I agree with every single F you EA post in this thread! I can’t add anything that hasn’t already been said but I do hope that something positive gets made with these stolen tools. Like a game without all the bull loot boxes and pay to win crap
