Heat of the exercise, confusion, "fog of war", etc. There are lots of reasons. Some of the buildings they seized on the airfield included people working and doing their jobs. There's a lot going on, and you're going in fast.

I have a Bulgarian neighbor.
He has a yard full of sunflowers.
I told him he should watch his back.
The confused look on his face was priceless.

The plant is directly next to the airfield that was part of the exercise. It was close enough that someone mistook its buildings as part of the buildings used for the exercise. It was a simple mistake, no one was hurt and nothing was damaged.

That's the cover up. There is a big secret organization behind that. This is how a good Clancy's book start. I'd say drone it and blame the hackers now.

So are we cancelling cooking oil too now? They are banning menthol cigarettes currently I believe.

I am surprised none of the soldiers went full-on Picard face palm mode haha! But yeah, what's up with the guard cat not scratching the invading force to a bloody pulp?

I have a theory that it could possibly have been a secret weapons manufacturing plant that reverse engineers alien technology. Apparently they couldn't find the passcode to the secret entrance and just gave up.

Who knows? The possibilities are endless on this one....
