We definitely should have had a couple of Hitler statues strategically placed around the country to remind people of the German-American Bund.

I can always rely on you for the ace comments.
As long as we remove every memorial of every person who's ever done anything wrong, I'm OK with removing those statues. I guess that means removing every memorial of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who was president when Japanese Americans were interned in WWII. Joe Biden has said some pretty racist things, so no monuments for him. Thomas Jefferson (Louisiana Purchase) and James Madison (Father of the Constitution) were slave owners. Cesar Chavez was adamantly opposed to illegal aliens, so we'll have to rename an awful lot of streets and schools. Lincoln said he wouldn't have opposed slavery if it would have preserved the Union. Without Ulysses S. Grant, who once owned a slave, the Union might not have defeated the Confederacy.

So you have no problem with the removal of statues if Cofederate soldiers. I mean if it's pointless to remember a tragic event on its anniversary then it must be really pointless to continue memorializing a bunch of traitorous losers on a daily basis.

So I guess we shouldn't teach any history in schools then, since that was then and this is now, right?

One side exploiting a tragedy from 100 years ago for political gains.
Alternatively it could be because it's a current news item.

The blacks opened fire on all the whites and killed 10 of them
a white man tried to disarm a black veteran, and a shot was fired. The riot began.

They do statistically commit a incredibly high amount of crime.
So it's okay to slaughter random blacks and burn down their businesses and homes?
Gotcha.

Every culture has a history riddled with horrors.
Not making any excuses.
Just saying that America is not immune to having horrors that it's people have committed upon others.
If reparations help, then give them whatever they want.

Reparations will never help. That's a temporary fix like getting drunk after your girl did you wrong. Once the buzz wears off, you're back to square one. Quickest way to get over it is to put it all in your rearview and never look back. However, if you're using it as your crutch to drink then you'll never move on.
