Why indeed.

I initially thought it said "22 dead", but I looked at the headline of your thread and it reads "TWO DEAD".

I guess it'd cause a public freakout if Americans and non-Americans alike around the world read of a mass shooting every three days which leaves an average of a dozen or two dozen dead...

It'd be the equivalent of hearing of news of six shuttle crashes before the seventh is actually successful - all for a trip to the ISS or something...

Imagine if this is a normal week:

Monday: Mass shooting in Miami leaves 18 dead, 10 injured
Wednesday: Mass shooting in Chicago leaves 20 dead, 13 injured (one mass shooting, not multiple as is often reported in news IRL)
Saturday: Mass shooting in [insert random US city] leaves 21 dead, 9 injured
Tuesday: Mass shooting in Los Angeles leaves 15 dead, 7 injured.

The above would cause a public freakout, no?

It could well have been 20 dead and 2 Injured considering the three gunmen were firing into a crowd AT9S911.

Lets just hope Police searching for three gunmen in question manage to track down and apprehend the swine.

Everyday in the news people, adults, teens. children are being shot, and my intuition tells me its going to get worse before it gets better.

The way this year started out with the criminal behavior at the Capital; to me that was a big red flag of further criminal behavior.

What can we do? Use common sense, pray and be aware of who is around us; and who is listening in to our conversations gathering information to attack us in the future.

I think many people are too trusting; be suspicious; trust no one; until and unless they prove differently.

Nope, it's not the guns. Those three could just have easily jumped out of their car, run over the the crowd, done a bunch of stabbing and the ran back to their car making a fast getaway.

Actually they could have just used the car to injure and kill far more than 20 and 2.

I agree with some of that alexandrae.

Trust is rather an illusory notion at best i suppose.

Technically you are simply giving someone or something a finite period of time to let you down.

And since nobody is perfect and change is inevitably in the post.

Guess what's going to be lost in the wind at some point?

Hell of a paranoid place to exist all the same, that being a world without a modicum of trust, for a start how would we ever manage to get anything done?

Some people have proved to me I can trust them; and I am glad; however I don't trust people until I have spent time with them; I know what I am about; but I need to find out what they are about.

Could people stop saying 'RIP'? It's not only the laziest virtue signaling you can do, it shows a complete lack of independent thinking, imagination and knowledge of what humanity is, what happens after the body dies, etc. I don't want to REST after I am done with this incarnation, I am going to travel, explore, create, socialize, cultivate myself, find hobbies and civilizations. Star Trek has NOTHING on me!

But no, it's always 'REST' and also in PEACE. Why can't I rest in 1980s soundtracks if I want to? Why do you force PEACE upon me?!

Anyway, I won't do this, I won't DISRESPECT the people that got free and are now living their dream life on the other side, I am going to - if anything - wish them fun, excitement, creativity, happiness on multiple levels, wonderful explorations, spiritual insights, enlightenment! WHY wish for 'REST'? Isn't that the most boring thing an entity can do? You don't even NEED rest when you don't have a heavy physical body anymore!

Of course, for balance and the law of fluctuation or something, you kinda need 'activity-rest-activity-rest'-type cycle, but why only wish one part of it, why not AT LEAST wish for 'rest AND activity', 'peace AND excitement'?

In any case, I wouldn't call people that get out of this crazy world 'victims', but 'lucky bstrds'.

I think 'mass shooting' would require an actual MASS of people to be hit by bullets. Not just a handful (well, cosmically speaking).

Someone goes to a CONCERT - usually these are packed with people, 'thousands' would not be an exaggeration - and they're able to only kill two and injure 20?

What kind of a loser is this? I mean, a bumbling fool with Ernest P. Worrell's intellectual capacity should be able to kill at least hundreds purely by ACCIDENT, let alone if someone really goes to shoot people in a concert.. _HOW_ do you manage to have a 'victim' count so low in a concert?

It's like shooting fish in a barrel filled to the brim with fish, and managing to wound five and kill one. How?

I am always disappointed when I read these 'shocking mass deaths', it's always just a few people. I am waiting for a hundred thousand or million people to die in some event. Then I'd at least have hope that it could happen to me, too.

But no, it's always just a few. Do these news people even know how many people die JUST from starvation every day? It's gotta be at least a hundred thousand. But for some reason, that's never news - no, five people dying in some concert is more newsworthy.

We all have a time to go, dying is not a tradegy, stop making it news. I mean, think of it this way; would you rather die after staring at the ceiling, immobile for 20 years, listening to a machine beep and have nothing to do, because your body is mostly paralyzed, or would you rather die in the prime of 'your life' in some concert or while a controlled demolition explodes the building around and under you?

I'd rather die in a spectacle than hospital bed.. oh well, maybe it's just me.
