Well this should be spectacular for the camera aficionados down in Oz

Everyone all around Aust will get a chance to see it:, refer to the link for your city

The heavens are lining up in the first total lunar eclipse to be seen across Australia since July 2018...

...And this lunar eclipse also just happens to occur shortly after the Moon is closest to Earth (perigee), so that makes it a blood red "supermoon" (or a perigee-syzygy eclipse, if you want to use the astronomical term)...

...This full moon (and eclipse) also happens to fall nine hours after the Moon has reached its closest point to Earth this month (357,311 kilometres away), so it is a supermoon.//

This dude explains it pretty well, helped me understand it concisely

Have fun - and no human sacrifices please - for any pagans reading.

thanks for the sharing of knowledge

let's see what event happens after this 'Sign and Wonder' display...

the 9 hour time lag from the Perigee to the Eclipse might be a clue as to what to watch for...

"I will show you Signs and Wonders in the Sun-Moon-Stars" (see the descending order of importance in what to expect? )

I'll leave it to you to read the "signs and wonders". I'm distracted by some stuff at the moment, but no doubt if there are macro events we shall see; the trouble I find though is that there is so much "covid" chatter that tends to be permeating.

We cant see it here on the east coast of USA

Always happens - either the eclipse is not visible or the weather sucks

Whoopie. It's the Moon. It's there pretty much every night. So it looks a little different. *yawn*

Started!

Actually have a decent view. The moon is very bright. The clouds adds a cool effect.

One thing I really noticed is that even Monday morning it was chilly enough for a wind breaker. This morning, I am wandering around in a t-shirt.

About half an hour…

Spectacular view from here in Sydney. crystal clear night too so had excellent views. The total eclipse has now happened and its slowly moving back to the big bright moon it was.

Battle between moon set and sun rise. Bu of course, the clouds won

Did get a good view of the start but my photo had the shadow over powered by moon shine!

Not “Epic” but a regular “FAIL”.

Oh well. Hope the next one is better viewing!
