Happened across this video tonight I thought I’d share as it shows a glimpse of some old school exploring.

These people did this trip before the Leyland brothers did (famous Australian adventurers) with a lot less equipment. In fact despite being a tough as nails Land Rover, it’s got minimal ground clearance and skinny cheese cutter tyres!

Oh and she pops a baby out on the trip too.

Anyway, enjoy.

What a cute voice the daughter has, and this was before the Leyland Bros.

Thanks for the thread.

Love Australia!

Awesome. Thanks for posting. I love Aussie slang. After I have some brekky, I'm gonna put on me trakki-daks and go out for me walk.

Well, that was enlightening Chad. Surprised I never saw that on the T.V. all those years ago. Going to the Cape by tracks in those days was an achievement let alone crossing the Strait to NG and return in that little boat.

Cheers,

Bally

Greetings Chadwickus,

Great video.... love these old videos.... and those on "Bush Tucker Man"...

Wow, had a baby out in the bush too!

Imagine her husband was freaking out..Ha! Well, I would.... just the thought of having to help the wife have a baby all by myself is scary as, let alone in the middle of woop woop!

I was surprised seeing the boat they brought, thinking it was a bit big for exploring the rivers and inlets, but made sense when they took it through Torres Strait. In which case it was way too small!
