Do you have any interesting friends? And what makes them interesting to you?

I have no answer for this topic myself, because me and my friends went our separate ways organically.
I made friends only in school.
Outside of school though I never made any friends.
And I've been outside of school for a long time since I am 43 years old.

I've made some interesting friends here on ATS.
Unfortunately, their respective institutions don't allow for visitation.

A couple girls I knew in high school ended up in interesting jobs.

One works for the state department and spends a lot of time in the middle east.

The other one works for the indiana Department of agriculture. She just got back from Japan after doing a trade deal for soy beans.

I think as an adult, maybe with kids involved too, it's not that easy to maintain or find friendship. The way we were used to, when we were younger and had more time.

For myself, a friend is someone I can connect to and other way round, connect to me. I think if we like someone and we like to hear their thoughts or care about their well being, that would be what I call friendship.

Then there are deeper friendships, with more trust involved. Fluid then until the scale ends and then there is different love than family love.

That's how I would describe it.

I forgot! Friendships are also based on same interests.

I have many nice conversations here, sometimes it takes long for each other to answer. Nothing forced, just when the mood is there. With some I write about philosophically topics, or engines/cars. Other topics too but I do not want go into details.

ATS is such a nice place to bring us together. I think, if you land here and stay, you at least like to think out of the box a tiny bit and are open minded. That's great material for conversations.

Sure it's not like real-life friends but refreshing and always interesting! What are your interests? I always like to try new recipes or share mine / family recips. It is good gesture to share recipes here where I live.

We say love also needs to be fed with good food

If I would quote the literal sentence in english it would sound dirty because it's an idom.

I have a few very interesting friends. One magician, a bartender, a nuclear safety officer, and a working girl. It’s hell on poker night.

I have a biker friend, he looks like your typical rough, tough biker. Yet he is a trained ballet dancer.

Most interesting guy I knew was a garbage collector in our old neighborhood.
He looked and sounded like he should be trapping gators in the Bayou...but was one of the most intelligent and cultured people I've ever met.

The guy was a master chef and expert on just about any subject one could think of. His knowledge of military history was seemingly limitless.

This is why one should never judge a book by it's cover.

There's a racing licence card (valid) behind my bank card in the purse and nobody looking at me would surmise it. And I would never express this in public except here.

Here the chance is greater that someone else reads and thinks he that's cool to find someone else and then we could conversate about experiences, opinions and have an interesting exchange.

Like a smoker sees someone else have a smoke, they gather! Worldwide. There is something they share and that opens up conversation. Depends on culture, too.

Interesting friends...I'm pretty boring and nerdy but I've traveled a lot and have met a lot of neat people.

2 that work in that symmetric shaped government building..
A friend that is a weed farmer
A friend that is a nurse and has a botox business

Oddly enough, the vast majority of my friends are teachers or professors, even though I am not in that profession, I seem to
attract this profession in my good friend group.

I still keep in touch with a friend I had since we were babies.
Our dads worked together and his big sister was our baby sitter when we were still in the play pen.

Interesting guy...and a life-long friend after many decades.
