I took a lot of things for granted, and my planning, short and long are very very different now.

You have no idea how much this resonates with me...

On the bright side, there is something to be said for the liberation that comes along with this baptism of sorts.

And I suppose we'd be doing an injustice to God/luck/(insert another source) to not be thankful that life was such a way we were insulated from how utterly metal it can get. Maybe a second childhood so to speak, with the intellect of an adult, but an innocence from the dark side. It's easy to forget that beyond the loosely bound constructs of society, there is a planet that is indiscriminate in it's raw power. Most organisms exist with the sole mission of survival, something they have to compete and strive for every day.

I think what's important though is striving to remain a warm human being. It's one thing to recognize the capacity for life to get mind bogglingly dark for a period, long or short, and another to be able to say that is what it is. Using it as contrast to make the glowing parts of life brighter.

Fight not flight? Were you trying to break someone's eardrums with your screams or something?

Hopefully the guy is alright, head wounds bleed a lot, I have had a few in my life and it sure looks like hell when it happens. I have seen people with head wounds that have looked like they were going to bleed to death, but never did, I suppose if you got knocked out or someone wasn't around to help, it could be very deadly because unless you put pressure on them they seem to keep bleeding. Working under cars you get head wounds once in a while, usually when moving around or trying to get at a place you can hit your head on something sharp. That is where I got mine from and so did many of my friends who also did mechanic work over the years.

I wonder why wounds to the head bleed so much?

I can't do anything for the bad time you guys are going through except to say a prayer, which I did already. Keep your energy positive...that does not mean you know positively everything is going to go wrong. I hope things turn around shortly, you guys have been through quite a bit lately.

Update, Neighbor is recovering and OK, but very beat up looking.
Every dog in the neighborhood is sniffing my yard, they must be able to still smell the blood.
