it is a bit of a silly question and i hope it has not been answered/asked before. but surely they must have their own electricity source, because if not you would easily b able to cut of the supply, and that would make it easy to infiltrate. its sort of obvious they do, but what if they didnt?

yes, they do have their own power supply. but i dont know what you mean by they, i do know that Area 51 gets its power supply from Hoover Damn. that is all i am willing to divulge.

so it would be really easy to cut of the supply then.... that is of course... once hoover dam becomes easy to blow up.

there is no way that you could cut off the power supply. well, not easily anyway. there is a certain room at the bottom of the damn that is guarded by armed men. not to mention, if you did kill the guards, and you did cut the power, they have backup generators that would kick on. and they would have a crew down there ASAP to fix the problem. so it wouldnt really matter if you cut there power supply.

Yes, because even if there was a turbine malfunction or something bad happened, they have generators running all the time so the surveillance won't EVER shut off.

hehe, it would be cool to do so, imagine their faces

As a rule, goverment research facilities are way the heck and gone out in the middle of nowhere. 40 mile commute to work is good duty, sometimes you get on a plane without knowing where it's going.

This means you're at the end of the commercial power wire. And that SOB Murphy will pull the plug at the critical moment in an experiment.

So government research facilities are infested with 60 KW generators. Big monsters, smoky Allison-Chalmers diesels. As old as I am, and as hard to start on a cold day.

Everything runs off an UPS - uninterruptible power supply - fed by commercial power, with a diesel generator running just in case.

Commercial power is way less expensive than locally generated diesel,so it's the power source for administrative and operational stuff. Tech power, you got prime and backup and backup to the backup.

Actually quite easily, the high tension towers that carry the power away from the dam ar far easier and a much soter target to take out IMHO.

But no doubt they had an independant source of power to as well. The Groom range above the lake would be a good place for a solar array etc as well.

Considering their threats would be either a terrorist or actual military, chances are none of that would stand up to a MISSILE smacking the dam...

However, of course there are backup generators to ANY facility like this, even hospitals...
There's also a good chance that any subterranean facilities are likely using geothermal energy (so good luck killing that, hehe...)

Of course it has it's own generator! By 'they' you mean Area 51 right? If it didn't have it's own generator it would be so easy to cut off power [well easier than running into Area 51 and switching it off]...
