this used to happen to me about once a week. i would be sleeping then i would shake like i just fell from the sky and hit my bed. i would wake up sort of scared even tho i dont remember anything happening. this would only happen when i was sleeping. what would be the cause of this? i dont have any dreams so i just sleep and then the next secound i wake up and its morning so my dreams could not be the cause.

It sounds like your astral body returning. You probably need to work on your landing.

Same thing happens to me! I will be on the verge of sleeping...not thinking about anything at all (nor dreaming about anything) then suddenly an image or thought of me falling off of something enters my head and I literally jump while in my bed, my arms and legs shooting out too. I will wake up and realize I just did that, and when I'm sleeping with someone realize how stupid I just made myself look.

I've seen my great dane do that too, lol is he APing. I think that is common when you dream you are falling and your mind shakes you awake and your body reacts. I do not think it is paranormal.

I've had this happen to me before, too. It feels kind of weird, like you were dropped into bed from a height. I was never scared by it, I just assumed it was part of my dreams or something. Since I don't usually remember my dreams, that seems a pretty reasonable explanation. When you say you don't have any dreams, technically that isn't true; you do have them; everyone does. Some just don't remember having them.

It's probably caused by falling in dreams, since that is a deep-rooted, primitive fear in everyone. One dream I've had a few times over the years is being in an elevator, and the floor starts to retract into the wall, and I frantically try to keep from falling, but eventually, well, down the shaft I go
I think it's probably a dream similar to this that we just don't recall upon awakening.

Except b4 I hit my bed all I could see was a white light. I thought it was aliens, but i like the astral projection thingy better.

I've had experiences similar to this. I'll be on the verge of falling asleep and I'll be thinking about falling.. Sometime's it will be about going on a roller coaster ride of some sorts. As I think of it all of a sudden my body jerks. If I'm sleeping I wake up. It doesn't happen often. I think the last time it happen to me was years ago.

i broke my bed having that happen to me once. it scared the living hell out of me.

turns out the wood holding up the boxspring moved when i jumped because it wasn't nailed down and my boxspring fell through.

but anyway, it happens to me eh 1-2 times a month. its kinda fun.

Yeah this sounds like AP to me as well.

I had a funny experience with this once. I was trying to AP, and I did. I felt myself floating up, and I thought to myself "Holy crap I'm doing it!" (this was my first successful attempt). It was at that moment that *SMACK* I fell hard back into my body and heard a loud thud...It scared me big time lol. I think it's kind of a right of passage

This happens to me alot too, and like others have said it's when we're most tired because that seems to be when we're the most conciously unaware of what's going on and this allows us to totally relax, I don't ever remember what I was doing after this happens either. But I'll usually wake up out of breath and even sweating sometimes.
