Ordered a wifi-booster on Amazon back Nov 6th... cash came out from account Nov 9th... supposedly the same day the item shipped.... was due to arrive several days later... never arrived... messaged Amazon to find out what happened... they say to wait a few more days as its been shipped then get back to us if still not arrived... so wait a few days... still not arrived... message Amazon again asking for a refund as the item hasn't arrived and looks like it may have been lost in transit.... Amazon say... ok, your refund will be in your account between 5 and 7 days.... after several days refund still not in my account.... message Amazon again asking where my refund is... this happens twice more... still no refund after 2 months... messaged them again 2 days ago... Amazon staff member says sorry, will escalate this issue further for you personally if refund still not in your account within 5 to 7 days.... waiting for the 7 days to pass...

What the hell?? Since when does it take Accounts dept so long to refund a customer??

This isn't a trick question or a joke...

Waiting....

I would have disputed the charge with the credit card company, and have the money frozen after the first 7 days were ignored. It's amazing how quickly things get resolved when you take the cash back with force.

Would of been too late after seven days... have to do it straight away usually... and was waiting for item to arrive... also Amazon would have already taken the cash out by then as its taken out as soon as item is shipped

What network dude says, time to escalate it through the bank or credit card. It might me too late though since there is a limited amount of time to cancel the booking.

Add: Okay I saw your reply. Either keep up annoying the support or get an lawyer. Depends on how much money it is.

Check your email, and also the order details. Some countries are delayed right now.
I am still waiting on a movie from Italy.
Given what's going on in the world you should've seen this coming.
Bit if this truly upsets you call the card carrier.
Crap happens man.

What kind of credit card is that?

My credit card company loves me. I can easily dispute a charge from 90 days ago, and generally they don't even wait to hear back from the other party to reverse the charge.

Whenever some online sale goes sour, I first try to work it out with the seller. They get 7 days from the date of my complaint in my book. At day 8 I go to the company (ebay, amazon, whatever) - they get 5 days.
After that I go to my credit card- they'll fix it right away every time.

Did you buy the device from Amazon, or from a vendor on Amazon?

If from a vendor, then Amazon's business model is risk averse to them. Consequently, Amazon passes the risk off to the vendor and basically encourages them to send a replacement. Any refunds really need to be dealt with between you and the vendor.

If from Amazon directly, well, good luck. Once again, Amazon is more likely to send another unit rather than refund your money (IF they have the item in stock). This, because they just pass the risk off to the supplier. There's a reason Amazon doesn't publish its phone number, this is one of those reasons. I'm not sure I even know of anyone who has ever received a cash refund direct from Amazon.

It does at times....Ordered book, never came, 1 day acct credit at dbl purchase price.

Then...got book in 1 day, no charge and $33 credit for and $18 purchase...AND the book.

It really depends. You can cancel an order mid-delivery even....and the credit shows up to my acct. Instant.

Now! It does matter how you pay for it

Young Grasshopper, you shall learn to avoid such suckholes as Amazon. Regardless if from a vendor or directly, it is still lining the pocket of the richest librarian to ever roam the earth!
Bank charges leave your account with the speed of light, but refunds ALWAYS take several days. Banks/Credit Unions are not your friends, nor are credit card companies, but they are all bedfellows with Bezos. Cash is your best bud, but with the world in a panty twist about the imaginary Covid-19, cash is as tainted as everybody, so is now to be avoided with all due diligence.

Yeah, I have been refunded before from Amazon... but usually thats within couple of days... for some reason with this order, they are taking their time... also the order still hasn't been fully cancelled on my account.... somone at Amazon havn't managed to cancel it properly.... so status still says 'Dispatched' and 'should have arrived Nov' ...

Maybe i will try the bank to get the the cash back if still not recieved refund by next saturday.

Something similar happened to me, I'll tell you what not to do... Don't order another one.

I ordered something small. Amazon said it was going to be delayed, then they said it
was undeliverable and would be refunded. So I just ordered another one. Guess what happened.
I got the new one and then the day after I got the original one. Never got a refund.

I'm a long time Ebayer and have seen every kind of scam. I seriously wonder if this is a new one.
Many people are too lazy to return the 2nd product...

True in most cases.... its like casinos... take the cash straight away but when wanting to cashout a win, you have to send in proof of ID (On wins over 500) but they are happy to take cash from your account without showing ID... doesn't make sense.

Could well be that certain 'items for sale' are scams.... reckon a lot of people who work for Amazon are crooks!

Many years ago I used to work in warehouses... the amount of items that went missing.... well... a lot

That's the thing, if Amazon says it's undeliverable, it should be undeliverable and refunded.
There should be "ooops we found it, we are charging you".

Even if the item is 25 bucks, over tens of thousands of people that can add up to a lot of money.
If it happens again I am going to return both items.

Then your good bro. If the item can't be delivered Amazon will refund you.
I got worried that the movie I ordered wasn't going to ship at all. But it did man. Took a week or so.
Wanna hear a funny story! So I ordered the poster. Didn't read the details of the poster. Turns out it was a freaking 27-40 poster so then I had to get a frame.... Not cheap man. And the movie doubled in price to get it in English!

The majority of people believe the problem was taken care of and do not realize it was not. People are not that smart, their belief in the issue being taken care of makes them not see it and they pay anyway.

That is not a new tactic, make sure to keep track of your refunds to make sure they actually happen. I have had accounts for fifty years, and it is important to make sure everything is actually followed through and credited properly. I learned long ago of this happening, I have had accounts at lumber yards and hardware stores since I was fourteen years old. I learned to check to make sure every receipt was correct and every refund actually got credited to my balance. I would bet over the years, I have been overcharged or not credited at least ten grand. Hospital bills are good for this, and even property tax payments sometimes do not get credited right, neither do taxes paid to the government. Hopefully I caught all of the charges or missing refunds that were wrong. Check your slips at the stores too, I got charged for three cases of oil instead of three quarts of oil one time, being it was on my charge card, I did not even notice it till I stopped to make sure all of the charges were right and all the sales prices were applied.
