Happy new yrs one and all , hope this yr is opposite of the last.

youtu.be...

Wanna see some kool fun stuff^^
this was a pop up on my side bar perhaps due to algorithm
Nothing heavy , just some dramatic realistic colorization of Roman rulers, draw back is , this it was based off their sculptures, not remains ..cuz they tended to go for cremation, but still good stuff..
Again Happy new yrs, my first post of the Yr.

The busts and statuary you're seeing are very stylized. Thousands of copies of those would be sent all over the Empire so that the citizens could see who the Emperor was. They often times left out aspects of their appearance that would make them look less regal. Not that Augustus, in this case, wasn't bad looking, he was described as attractive in some of the surviving texts but other Emperors were not described as flatteringly.

IMHO I think Domitian's hairline should've receded a lil based off his sculpture.

You beat me to it.

I subscribe to this youtube channel. They have several worth watching. I don't always agree with their artistic license in recreations, but they do good work. I wish I was as good at Photoshop.

Must have been men who did the reconstruction drawing then.

It could have been. The channel features the work of both men and women.

This thread desperately needs a pic of a yardstick with Roman numerals.

(I seem to have lost the ability to add pics.)
