btw, total sidenote, but any PC gamers around here wanting to pick up a couple other fantastic titles (should you beat cyberpunk ) should look into Baldur's Gate 3 (in early access, but very promising) for a great D&D RPG...or Mount and Blade 2 for a in your face taking over the world type action strategy thing (Think total war, but you control an individual unit, along with being a general in an ever expanding army)

Might have to tip hubs off to Baldur's Gate. He was a huge Neverwinter Knights fan.

available for pre-load right now on steam and GoG, downloaded the base game in about 20 mins on steam with their notoriously lousy download speed.

I am pre-loading it in steam (PC), 57.33 gigabytes but there is an at least 45 gigabyte day one patch that is going to be released when it unlocks so?, not as big as a Red Dead Redemption 2 install (over a 150 gig installed) but still a whopper, more and more game developers are doing this to combat pre-release piracy they put deliberate bug's in then patch it when it is released, day one patches are the norm now.

I just hope it does not turn out to be another brainless, kill kill shoot shoot game and is a bit more Deus Ex like but it look's good anyway and I have always wanted to see a realistic city in a game, that said early reports of the PC version long before it was released said that crowd density on this platform was lower than that on the consoles so maybe they had to reduce some features with the PC market having machines of many specifications instead of just one that they could tailor it to.

I do hope it allows modding as well, this looks to be an ideal setting for a blade runner total conversion - if they add fog, rain, dark sky's and a few more things, that's the game I really want a cyberpunk style reimagining of the blade runner universe but until we get that here we go, just two days to go or thereabout.

Or a Star Wars total conversion, never going to happen but it would be cool, still a blade runner is very possible, this will attract players from a wide variety of other franchise as well.

It is said not be quite GTA but it does have car based action as well as first person and though violence is a part of the story and the world it is an RPG so I hope they have taken that element to it's max, yes you are stuck to three life path's but hopefully since it is a living breathing world the player should be free to do pretty much what they want within reason so let's hope there is a good bit of freeform play incorporated into this title, either way looking forward to it.

Be playing it in 1080p since that is the native resolution of my old TV but at least I have a 2060s so should be able to turn some of the bells and whistles on.

It is interesting being almost as excited for something as I was for Xmas when pre-sentient.

I wonder at the levels of reality that will emerge from computer modeling in the near future.

I also wonder when the general realization occurs that we are now (mostly) capable of building whimsical, fun worlds in the "realz?"

Work used to be a dismal chore so we could exist and play... it's not supposed to be the end all be all of existence!

Mass psychosis caused by the Protestant work ethic, anyone?

I played a little of the table top game back in the day. I also did some Shadowrun.

Didn't even know that was a thing.

Cool to hear that it has such history though. A lot of those games laid the foundation for modern video games.

I’ve also read that there’s a lot of bugs.
But that may had changed today because a pre day one launch patch was issued.
Some 40 GB of a day...zero patch I guess lol.
That’s crazy.
Hopefully it runs smooth on the Xbox one X.
Haven’t been able to find a series X yet.
So I’m still rolling on last gen.

itching to play this game
literally dropped $2200 on a new PC (wanted a RTX 3080 but no possible way of getting one of those due to bots..so shrugged and got a premade with one installed. arriving tomorrow) just to play this game on raytraced ultra settings.

I tend to get hyped for a game every few years...this one is on 11. I have been spitting out laser cut cyberpunk gear and all sorts.

I trust CD Projekt Red, so not worried about it being not good...being good is a given. Arugably being really good is a shoe in. I just hope its epic.

I hate technology. I finally upgraded my system and decided on the RTX 2060 Super. I mean, it runs my VR gear perfectly. But seeing everything storm past it lately gives me buyers remorse lol..

heck even my i9 9900k is now not what it was when I got it.

Speaking of my VR, I wonder if this will be vr compatible down the track (I've not looked into it) because it does look like a great candidate for a pc-vr game. Hopefully with a control system more like the Talos Principle rather than HL Alyx..

I'm on the verge of buying this..
If it's only a SP experience then I would prefer it on the one X for true 4K and HDR.

I know MP is supposed to be patched in later... in which case I'd want it on PC...
I'm so confused...

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm also planning on rolling with one X, at least I installed a 1TB SSD in mine, what a difference!

Depending on your system PC is probably the best bet over the XBox although if you plan to get a series X perhaps not.

Decisions decisions.

I bought red dead twice simply to play online with a friend. A week later they launched the standalone online for 1/10th of the price of the full game... So there I paid twice, for a full game, simply because all my friends are on PC, o and I refuse to pay for 'xbox live'. Multiplayer should be free, get stuffed MS.

But the Xbox is great for the SP experience in 4K on my TV...

The Xbox and my PC are pretty evenly matched in terms of hardware. PC is a 6th Gen i7, 8GB RAM and a founders 1070.
It has served me very well over the years, but I really enjoy playing SP games on the big-a$$ TV with the 4k res...

I think I know what woman a feels like when there are 2 different pairs of high heels contending for their monetary spoils...

For those who were saying they had no history or lore:

One of the two reviews I posted mentions that the game drops you in with all the terms and everything and flat-out expects you to know as if you were V. So there is no hand-holding. These might help you a bit to get ready. There's a lot there, but it will explain how the world got be the way it is.

The PC day one patch looks to be another 57.3 gigabytes of Data.

Hey Thank's for that Ketsuko some of us never got into the cyberpunk universe before and those videos flesh the world out a bit.

I only played a very little bit and I was getting what I remembered from Shadowrun mixed up with it, so it was useful for me too.

Thanks for those vids! Almost thru the first one and it's reminding me of Neuromancer and Blade Runner, so much back story.

psyched!

Launch trailer for Cyberpunk has been released , "Would you rather live in peace as Mr. Nobody... or go down for all times in a blaze of glory?"
Oooo , blaze of glory please.

Agree with Ketsuko on the importance of the lore (and I haven't watched those vids, so gonna check them out). Gamespot also had a lot of nice short(ish) lore vids as well to get you up on the backstory and current state of things. It's not normally my way to deep research every game, and I've been pretty hardline about actually not watching CP 2077 gameplay vids, but since CDPR has put so much effort into the storytelling (making the claim that the storytelling in Witcher 3 was just a "warm up" for CP 2077) I feel like doing a little research can only make it more immersing & enjoyable. Here are some that I found to be pretty good:
