With a couple of days till unlock and with the game already sitting on many expectant gamers hard drives the review embargo has been lifted and the reviews for the most anticipated game of the decade are out in the wild , the good news for those who jumped early is that with 37 critic reviews in the bag Cyberpunk holds a respectable average of 91% on Metacritic.

www.metacritic.com...#:~:text=CD%20Projekt%20RED's%20artistic%20achievement,put%2C%20may%20never%20be%20bested.

Digital Spy summary , reviewed on PC.

Driving around Night City feels like a slightly tighter version of GTA, while the combat and RPG mechanics feels like Fallout or Skyrim. However, the story and the world feels completely brand new and original and, much like V's techno-morphed body, the mix of inspirations takes on it's own identity to become a wild frankensteins monster of great games combined.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a fantastic game that we have never experienced before, and is a window into the future of next-gen gaming and what it's capable of. We are addicted to its world and everything in it, and we don't mind risking our reputation saying that it's easily our game of the decade, despite it missing out on the Video Game Awards for 2020.

This is a brutal, visceral world to live in, where death seeps through the concrete jungle and every job you take on feels like the beginning of your dark end in this unforgiving landscape.

Yet every time we complete a quest and receive some EuroDollars for our effort, we find ourselves itching to rush back into the danger and discover what other horrors await us.

We could wax lyrical about how good this game is for another ten years, and we still think the conversation would be relevant - so yes, we think Cyberpunk 2077 is the game of the decade. This is an event, and a big moment in gaming, because the brilliant Cyberpunk 2077 is laying down the stepping stones for greater feats in the future.

If you only play one next-gen game, making it this one.

Well we'll be seeing it for ourselves shortly. It reminds me that I haven't checked in with STEAM to see when my download is supposed to start. They were starting to schedule those today. I also need to get my new gaming headset up and running with my machine so I can listen to all the dialogue in all its glory without worrying about little pitchers with big ears.

As to the metacritic score ... well, didn't ME3 have a good critic score too?

Although the gaming press isn't nearly as buddy/buddy with CDPR as they were with BioWare and EA, so I'm a little less jaundiced about this.

**EDIT**

Preloading now.

STEAM saying it's going to take over an hour for me. That's huge.

I've watched on vanilla game play video just to see what the game is like visually.

I don't know much other than it's open world and futuristic.

I'm going to go into this one with a blank slate and an open mind.

I'm waiting with anticipation. I'll start downloading it on the ol' series X when I get home.

lol Damn Stealth brag! I'm rural England and was ecstatic when I found out I could get 70mb/s Broadband, never had a triple A game DL n an hour though!

There are some weird reviews/comments for this too, I hate reviews in general because people like saying things just to say them, but this is being dragged on a little for not being futuristic gameplay, but being a great game for our current time (wtf) and others are moaning that it doesn't do trans characters right, it's short etc etc

I dunno what people were expecting of this game? either way I can't wait to see for myself!

The trans character thing boils down to a controversy over a poster you see in the background. It's a beautiful female-looking model until you notice the huge, erect male member under the skin-tight leotard. The ad slogan is Mix It Up, and it's supposed to be some kind of soft drink, energy drink.

The original flap was that it objectifies trans and that's wrong.

The artist came on during the whole flap and said it was supposed to be objectifying because it was advertising, and that was the whole point -- ads objectify and they do today and would then, no matter who the model was. So even though it was intentional and to make that very point, the SJW rage continued and continues and certain quarters continue to find things to be made about.

They tried to criticize the depictions of the street gangs as racist and stereotypical even though the creator of the game, himself (Mike Pondsmith, a black man) came out said the gangs were accurate to his vision of them, and as he worked closely with CDPR all throughout development, he would know.

So yeah, there has been this element of games journalism wanting to bag on this thing almost from the start which is where my comments on the relationship not being so buddy/buddy came from.

Like everything nowadays then, much ado about nothing! You can't please everyone!

Thanks for saving me time trawling through articles and comments that I don't really want to.

I actually got a little worried my GTX 1060 6g wouldn't be able to handle the recommended settings.
But Steam said I am gtg.
I believe that means good to go.

Here's a YouTuber I like when it comes to games. Legacy is usually pretty well aligned with what my taste tends to be. No spoilers. Based on 40 hours.

I'll add another one. This one is also non-spoiler, and unlike the first, this guy went Corpo. Tidbit from his -- the prologue alone is 5 to 6 hours.

Ok so the more I look at the reviews the better it looks. I mean how can I say no to Keanu?

I remember the old game Neuromancer back in the 80s where you needed a hexidecimal reader to hack the game code itself for passwords, I sure hope this isn't just a flashy new wrapper. But my system has just gotten beefed up so I'm kinda anxious to see what it can do, added to my wishlist for later

itching to play this game
literally dropped $2200 on a new PC (wanted a RTX 3080 but no possible way of getting one of those due to bots..so shrugged and got a premade with one installed. arriving tomorrow) just to play this game on raytraced ultra settings.

I tend to get hyped for a game every few years...this one is on 11. I have been spitting out laser cut cyberpunk gear and all sorts.

I trust CD Projekt Red, so not worried about it being not good...being good is a given. Arugably being really good is a shoe in. I just hope its epic.
