This contemporary referendum

red and blue ballots imprinted on these suffragist's eyes
yet in innumerable ways tis not wise

to compose this doggerel in a lyrical manner
by torchlight, a laureate with lamp-lighted electoral banner

trite, tuneful, and plucked verse
impels the plebiscite to tender thirst

for what mainspring impels thus
naught but a loathing and vanquishing lust

Two words I had to look up; doggerel ( I cant recall ever having seen that used in a sentence, impressive!)
Mainspring, (I’ve definitely seen this one and was close enough in my mental definition. Had to look it up due to my inquisitive nature to be certain.)

lol thanks. Just could not sleep last night and so I was wandering the web. I kept seeing election-related things everywhere I looked and so this was born out of exhaustion and my repeated exposure to everything election. Will check out your work shortly. o.0
