Just saw this:

According to Jake Tapper (Chief Washington Correspondent for CNN):

"Knowledgeable sources tell (him) the White House now seems focused on going after Mark Esper's undersecretaries at DOD, following the firing of Esper on Monday.. The Pentagon's top policy official, James Anderson, resigned Tuesday, according to two US Defense officials."

"Why? Sources say it may be because Esper and his team were pushing back on what they viewed as a premature withdrawal from Afghanistan.."

If true that is interesting. Its like the Trump administration is trying to stop a war with Iran (and opposed to Deep State agenda(?)).

Not sure since I don't know the whole story, but perhaps thats good IMO.

Also interesting is how the media is using a different reason for their removal - which is because he gave pushback for trying to use military to quell looting and riots during BLM protests.

They should send Jake over there with a slingshot to bring the Taliban around. 20 years is more than enough. The society there has to want the change, and not enough of them do. We can't force them to be something that they are not.

Cheers

Called it.

Trump has been trying to remove our troops from Afghanistan since he entered office.

He has fired every SecDef who refused to comply. From Mattis to Esper. The American people are sick to death of useless wars.

Everything's fine; we're back on track now. With Biden/Harris at the helm, the Deep State can rest easy knowing that Endless War (tm) is back on the menu.

After 20 years if we are not going to go in and get it done, which means total war then we need to get out.

Its not good for Afganistan, and its not good for us.

If they oppose it then absolutly sack them.

A woman was killed the other day by animals that were mad that she had a job. That country - that whole region - is lost to barbaric Neanderthals. We shouldn't be there at all.

Couldn't agree more. If they want to kill each other, as long as they're not killing us, let go at it. They don't want to change, they want to be left alone. But you know how the left is, they know what's best..

Not only that, but America is probably not seen in the best of light. We often end up killing civilians in drone strikes, prop up the oppressive saudi regime and pull out of the kurdish regions when it no longer supports us.

America acts more like an empire trying to facilitate control and power, than a peacekeeping military force.

Nor be giving weapons, money, and military support to these countries. Im not sure how Trump would procede in the future. He says he wants to pull out, but at the same time does draconian measures like canceling the civilian casualties report by drones and giving billions in weapons to saudi Arabia which is a brutal islamic regime.

Not that biden will be better, but honestly this all feels like the same POTUS bs we hear every election cycle and actions are always contradictory.

Let’s not get racist now.. there are plenty of them who view it as equally barbaric.

Meeting many Afghans where I am at - they are completely Westernized and act like any other American citizen so what does that tell you?

Actually Mattis said if we go to war with Iran, the casualties will be massive on both sides and it would be a long drawn out war. It won’t be no Iraq.

It wasn't Iran I had an issue with.

He wanted to be in Afghanistan forever just like McCrystal.

Let’s be real we are not there for peacekeeping or to protect anyone. Likely none of the wars after WW2 have been for that reason.

One of the big reasons, we are there I suspect, is to secure the region for the expansion of Israel as per the Yinon Plan, As well as to acquire control for our other Middle East partners - namely Saudi Arabia.

Iran–Saudi Arabia proxy conflict

Hmm, you're probably spot on. I was hoping Trump was going to be different but that quickly faded after some time into his presidency.
