Geoffrey Palmer has died

The TV actor Geoffrey Palmer has died, according to a news report I have seen. Like Sean Connery, in his 90's.

Americans would probably know him best from his cameo role in Fawlty Towers.

What another of his characters would have called "a slight cock-up on the sausages front".

I always remember him from doing the voice over for a dieting organisation’s advert that played just after Christmas for around 5 years.

He would mention a type of food, and the scales weight increased each time. The last food type mentioned was fruit cake, fruit cake, fruit cake, lol.

He was a fantastic comedy actor though

Yes, he had an "authority figure" voice, which probably dictated much of his casting.

Yes it's sad, he did a lot of work over what....50/60 years, and added a lot to the very successful shows he was in, Butterflies, Reggie Perrin, Fawlty Towers and so on. R.I.P. Geoffrey.

For the benefit of the younger generation (and Anericans), I'll observe that the "secret army" clip is set in the atmosphere of the 70's. I.e. the years "before Maggie".
