Bernie is the intellectual sellout. To play at the heart strings of those who hang around the center / liberal - left to make them think they are 'radical' for a short time to make some sort of change.
I honestly think he's nothing more than a reactionary puppet to see how people react to radical (for America) ideas like universal health care and slightly raised taxes. A political punching bag.
