Hey, remember that company AstraZeneca? One of those ones working on vaccine trials that were recently
made exempt from any liability for any damages they cause.

The safety of their trials was also recently questioned and put on hold after some issues.

Well they weren't about to let a little thing like health and safety get in the way as they continued their trials in Brazil where a volunteer has now died.

SAO PAULO/FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Brazilian health authority Anvisa said on Wednesday that a volunteer in a clinical trial of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University had died but added that the trial would continue.

Oxford confirmed the plan to keep testing, saying in a statement that after careful assessment “there have been no concerns about safety of the clinical trial.”

AstraZeneca declined to comment immediately.

A source familiar with the matter told Reuters the trial would have been suspended if the volunteer who died had received the COVID-19 vaccine, suggesting the person was part of the control group that was given a meningitis jab.

“Everything is proceeding as expected, without any record of serious vaccine-related complications involving any of the participating volunteers,” the Brazilian university said in a statement.

Don't worry though, as they say, 'Everything's proceeding as expected.' And it's fine because it was a volunteer given a control dose of meningitis vaccine that died. Nothing to see here folks the global experiment shall continue as planned. Lives lost be damned. Can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs and all that.

In Korea yesterday.

South Korean authorities have sought to reassure people as the number who have died after being vaccinated against seasonal influenza rose to 13. The doctor leading an inquiry into the deaths has said he does not believe the vaccine and fatalities are connected

People die all of the time !
Just because vaccines are involved, doesn't mean that they caused the deaths.
They're for our health, and for the public good.

Only loser conspiracy theorists are suspicious of vax roll-outs, and the kind humanistic corporations behind them.

South Korea sticks to flu vaccine plan despite safety fears after 13 deaths.

See !
They're free !
That must mean that they're good, no ?

Remember folks : even though you're all wearing masks, social-distancing, washing your hands obsessively, and disinfecting everything you touch : more folks than usual should get the flu vaccine, because, ... derp

Apparently he didn't even receive the vaccine, he received a placebo.

You can see the amount of stories reporting the volunteer was in the placebo group.

Not sure why they would even bother testing placebos. It's borderline pseudo-science to test something like that on a serious illness. What next, sugar pills for cancer patients instead of chemo?

This is an unfortunate waste of life, but I don't think this should stop the testing of the actual vaccine.

The placebo was a dose of the meningitis vaccine. It was in my op. Typically, vaccines with known dangerous side-effects are not used as placebos in medical trials.

Is there anything saying he died from the vaccine? Or was he hit by a car? Just because someone that is part of a vaccine test group dies, does not mean the vaccine is what caused it.

People on ATS too lazy to even read a provided link. As it is I already quoted more than ats allows.

CNN Brasil reported that the volunteer was a 28-year-old man who lived in Rio de Janeiro and died from COVID-19 complications.

Of course it's in a country where we have trouble "verifying" 😃

So he died as a result of complications to COVID because he didn't get the "real" vaccine. So what's the point of this thread? He is in the extreme minority of younger people who died from complications of COVID (like the 0.00001% group). This thread is a joke.

I'm trying to figure out why the control group would get the meningitis vaccine. I'm not a vaccinologist, but it seems like a very strange study design.

What the heck is the point of that, as opposed to just saline or even just the same adjuvant and other ingredients but without vaccine?

One person died in the creation of a vaccine that can save hundreds of thousands of more? Sounds like it would be a good RIO to me ... assuming the volunteer was made well aware of the risks and their family compensated for the loss.

They will claim anyone who die was in the placebo group, that is damage control.
