Brexit: Trade talks with the EU are over, says No 10

www.bbc.com...

Talks between the UK and EU over a post-Brexit trade agreement are "over", Downing Street has said.

No 10 said there was "no point" in discussions continuing next week unless the EU was prepared to discuss the detailed legal text of a partnership.

So, not as dramatic as the headline might indicate. There are plans to meet again next week for 'intensified' talks.

What say our Britons? Will Boris and Barnier kiss and make up in the end? Or will Britain go the "Australia" route?

I suppose no deal in the end is possible just because both sides are determined about what they want. I read Merkel has already nudged the EU to be ready to compromise.

Cheers

The EU just can't come to terms with the fact that us leaving means their fishermen no longer will have free rein to plunder our fish with their factory ships , that is the biggest stumbling block and something they are going to have to come to terms with.

I think it's possible we could end up with a No Deal but I doubt it will come to that , the will and the need to do a deal is strong and Boris is right to play hard ball but what we are seeing is pure politics not an indication of outcome.

The EU's idea of a trade deal is for The U.K. to become a Vassal State.

They can piss off.

You shall fight on the beaches, you shall fight on the fishing grounds, you shall fight in the fish monger's, you shall fight on the waves; you shall never surrender your eels.

I like seeing some of you Brits taking a stand against the EU. It's refreshing!

Rubbish!! The EU project is in trouble. Why do you think they are so desperate to keep us in the EU or locked into a bad deal for the UK with protocols which threaten the UK union and leave us like a semi V state! Not to mention the fisheries biggy!

What is rubbish?

The Corperation of London is a tax Haven

THE EU was passing money laundering laws that would interfere the Corperation of London.

Stick to the facts.

It's one big waste of time. There's no point in any agreement after we know now that they're not worth the paper.
There will be no deal and that's fine.

No deal because the EU's demands are utterly ridiculous and no one in their right mind would accept such one sided an arrangement.

Indeed I believe the EU intended for such a deal to be roundly rejected. A common diplomatic tactic.

We shall see what the future holds.
