So what’s on my mind

So here I sit thinking about the cold winter we had in South Africa. Then I see all the “Global Warming” articles that are still relentlessly bombarding the media and I wonder why. More sea/glassier ice melting and the records that are broken concerning heat, but few (getting more lately) about the record cold temperatures and coming food shortages worldwide.
Did you build your Walipini yet?
Then I look at the so called “novel” covid virus already mention in 1974 medical books (novel my ar_). Are the writers of these articles stupid; I do not think so, so what are they trying to achieve?
Are the covid19 dangerous “Yes” does it deserve lockdown? “Yes to get heath system ready” does isolation help “Yes the virus does not spread so fast but it still spread like the flu virus and must therefore also be air-borne” (to many cases developed without contact not to be). Will there be consequences “Yes, now the malnutrition starts, already detectable in some of my neighbors asking for help”
Where are you now Cyril with the stolen money?

I’m not saying I’m right but at least try to study before I make conclusions. I’m also not claiming all the scientific studies I use as background in my learning curve are correct. And even with the infighting in science for recognition not everyone is corrupt or driven by a political/money agenda. Actually most scientist are outstanding researchers and trustworthy.

OK, let’s get back to what I’m thinking:

“Earth’s climate is controlled by the Sun cycles, Earth’s movement, cosmic radiation and landmass positions (ice accumulation). In the motions of Earth the 41,000 year cycle is the most dominant one for our local climate, but it gets overridden in data-sets depending on landmass positions (ice accumulation).” (From an old thread)

More local:

Southern and Northern hemispheres:

The sun does not heat up the atmosphere (ozone layer excluded) but heat up the Earth at ground level which then transfers the heat by rising. Due to the 68% of landmasses in the Northern hemisphere it absorbs more heat than the Southern hemisphere. The vast amounts of sea and Antarctica play the leading role in the Southern hemisphere’s slow pace in absorbing the heat.

Let’s look a bit at heat transfer before I continue:

“Thermal radiation is a direct result of the random movements of atoms and molecules in matter. Since these atoms and molecules are composed of charged particles (protons and electrons), their movement results in the emission of electromagnetic radiation, which carries energy/heat away from a surface.
In the atmosphere we get the transfer of heat/energy by means of photons in electromagnetic waves. This energy/heat emitted through matter or without the presence thereof, like in a vacuum of space, will also propagate towards balancing its surrounding environment. When an object is at a different temperature from another body or its surroundings, heat flows so that the body and the surroundings reach the same temperature, at which point they are in thermal equilibrium.
Earth’s enclosed weather system is however well balanced. When we get heat spikes in some areas we will get balancing colder spots in other areas. The polar regions do allow for the release of gas as the auroras prove the photons/electron interactions with its color displays, but due to the canopy effect at the equator we get this heat trapping effect of our atmosphere up to the top of the Stratosphere (Ozone).” (From an old thread)

Atmospheric oscillation:

Let’s call this the quick transfer/balancing of heat with the wind and atmospheric systems around the world playing their part. Then I begin to think about the Ancient civilization and there structures against our flimsy buildings we think will keep us safe. Not a chance.

Sea currents and temperatures:
“Data on sea levels show a trend of rising in bursts since the last glaciations period but currently seems normal in Durban, South Africa for the past 3,000-4,000 years with an average of ± 1.49 mm/yr. Extreme weather does cause damage that needs rehabilitation. Some continental plates around the world are most probably sinking/rising where the measurements are going crazy.” (From an old thread)
“Sea levels are a favorite in the fear mongering of global warming”
While the melting of ice influence temperatures of sea currents the main player stays the ability of the current to transfer the heat. When a sea current is blocked or redirected the big changes are coming.

Have a look

Good Luck

One more thing to add. On a clear night heat is radiated into space, thus a clear night is colder. On an overcast night the clouds hold in the heat and it’s markedly warmer. That being said, I think the low volume of air travel due to Covid lock down means much less than usual contrails to create clouds. I expect colder winters world wide. Just my thoughts.

Winter is coming.

The proper science was once taught in schools. The ice will return. I learned this back in 1975.

Climate science went crazy circa 2000.

Find the old books, have a read.

In particular, and if you can even find a copy, read "A Roadmap of Time" by Brad Steiger. Steiger was not up to his subject in this book, and it shows, but the data is amazing.

After two very hot and dry summers, it suddenly rained like crazy this summer. My wife made the comment that without the air traffic, it got cooler and wetter. One wonders.

Cheers

The western states are suffering from abnormally higher temperatures, lack of rain, and a high pressure system that keeps butting in. The normal jet stream has shifted right.

And it’s unusually quiet out in the Atlantic for hurricane formations, most all of them we did have went south, or flew up north, but none hit the east coast, strange year.

Interesting but I have a massive issue with this:

Are the covid19 dangerous “Yes” does it deserve lockdown? “Yes to get heath system ready” does isolation help “Yes the virus does not spread so fast but it still spread like the flu virus and must therefore also be air-borne” (to many cases developed without contact not to be). First of all is covid-19 dangerous? No, no more than any flu. It is maybe...maybe slightly quicker to propagate but the annual deaths of 'normal' pneumonia is more deadly than covid. Actually a lot of seasonal pneumonia cases are now counted as covid, so this corona virus is just as deadly or less than annual pneumonia deaths.

Does it deserve lockdown? No way. Not if we want to get back to normal. A virus that is stopped to spread is a virus to stay. How are people supposed to ever get antibodies if they stay indoors and don't mingle?
Oh, the vaccine...but we don't need a vaccine because we all have immune systems that do the job less dangerously.
Some people have compromised immune systems, they must take extra care and maybe they might need a vaccine if they wish so. Considering that the manmade vaccine won't last as long as the natural immune response and actually makes the natural response less successful, people who had any flu vaccine are prone to catch the virus easier and have stronger symptoms.

Does the health system need time to prepare for an onslaught of cases?
No, they had months of doing nothing, twiddling thumbs, twerking, making tic tc videos during which time they could have got stuff ready. Also there won't be an onslaught of covid, there will be an annual increase of another corona flu virus or pneumonia...annual as in 'like every year'.
If they are not ready now, they will never be.

Will people die? Yes, lots and they won't be dying of covid. They will die of a seasonal flu, of pneumonia and more importantly of loneliness, domestic violence, undiagnosed cancers, strokes and heart attacks, suicide, kidney diseases and all sorts of other illnesses which are being put on the backburner because of an elusive virus that nobody has yet proven to be even new or different. There exist a couple of images but they are not confirmed. For all we know it could be any of the existing 36 corona viruses. Those that said they work on the vaccine had difficulties obtaining an actual covid-19 virus, which is weird considering there were supposed to be gazillions of sick people dying everywhere.

Everything you say, the hunger and the mayhem is not because of covid. It's because of the hysterical, disproportional and frankly criminal lockdowns and restrictions.

I could post tons of evidence from reliable sources [Oxford University good enough?] but I fear I would derail the meaning of this thread. What needs to happen is, humanity going back to normal asap. Shops need opening, people need to take those flaming face nappies off, they spread more germs than prevent anything.

This starts with people starting to not believe everything those 'official' scientist say [no, they are not trustworthy jsut because they are officially acclaimed]. There are plenty of real and unofficial scientists who know the truth but are cancelled, banned, getting the sack, discredited etc.

WHen humanity wakes up and stops doing what the 'authorities' tell them they must do, then we have a chance to get out of this bruised and battered but alive. If we keep this hysterical charade up, we and your kids are doomed to live a life in misery and they will wonder how stupid we were to let this happen.
The window of opportunity is rapidly getting smaller and smaller.

I laugh long and hard at this global warming talk

The other day in my area it was minus 6 C in sept last year some idiots took to the streets after Greta wound them up and it was just as cold boy did they get some strange looks .

it is going to be a cold winter this year

If your point is that this gulf stream conveyor bringing warmth to western Europe has shut down before and will shut down again, bringing cold temperatures to Western Europe, probably so, but isn't that a Western Europe thing and not a "global" thing? I think so, but if you live in western Europe it could seem like a mini-ice age when the gulf stream shuts down or is adversely affected.

If that's not your point, I'm not really sure what your point is. Yes there are Milankovich cycles and other cycles, but they are only partially understood, and correlation between those cycles and climate is imperfect for reasons which are not really understood yet, though there are ideas.

The scientific consensus seems to be if there was a global ice age coming, it might be delayed by increasing CO2 levels, so what may happen is warming from the CO2 and then we enter another ice age after that some thousands of years from now. Upsets to the Gulf Stream "conveyor" could happen much sooner if a huge ice melt dumps too much fresh water, upsetting the conveyor.

Like you said “the shutting down of the gulf-stream could have been and will most probably in future happen again” and I find the article interesting because it shows the opposite of warming and rings true but I’m not onboard with the map they show because it is flawed. It makes the article a bit unbelievable.

This one is more accurate but to show the landmass sizes in contexts on a flat surface it alters the sea gaps to make it fit. The thing to me is that when the sea starts cooling down or heating up in an area the landmasses are going to follow suit in climate change. And when you go more local you can bring elevations into the mix for wet or dry conditions.

This picture comes from
d.newsweek.com...

The Southern hemisphere and Antarctica (ice accumulation) is controlling the world climate. The balancing comes due to atmospheric and sea current heat transfer. The blocking or altering of sea current will have a very big effect on climate change as per area.

To me is the fact that the “Global Warming“ bombardment (brain washing) seems to pick up again and are getting worst on scientific sites that are supposes to give reliable information.
Most of us on Ats understand and know that we are heading for a cold period. But what about the masses that believes articles without even understanding it. The none stop pushing for this BS is making me wonder why

I also took a swipe at the Covid19 (all the Sars2 flu mutations are now Covid related and not Covid19 anymore) again because the lock-down should have stopped the moment the heath systems were up to power. This whole lock-down thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth as I cannot work out why they are misleading the people. There are many conspiracy theories but I got a feeling it’s a practicing exercise for the coming cold phase and food shortages. Then again, who knows as most of us think differently without facts – which of us are right?

Not really. But some Antarctic glaciers are in trouble.

Not to mention Greenland.

Some century, yes. But not for many thousands of years. Not as as long as CO2 concentrations continue to rise. Your electric universe source does not address the effects of radiative forcing.

“We are plunging now into a deep mini ice age,” says British astrophysicist Piers Corbyn, “and there is no way out”.

Piers Corbyn is not an astrophysicist.

CO2 has a similar effect, though not as pronounced. Both day and night.

I differ and do not see CO2 as the main contributor. Yes I see it play a part but according to my view there are bigger players at stake.

But thanks for the input

Like what, for example? What has changed over the past 5 decades to have caused the warming trend? Solar activity has been on the decline. Has Solar insolation been increasing? I think not, or can you demonstrate otherwise?

These are global averages. Land and Sea. Northern and southern hemispheres. Not localized. The planet is retaining more heat.

And Piers Corbyn is not an astrophysicist.
