Bio-Leak form Lab in China last year - Thousands test positive for Brucellosis

Beijing: Thousands of people in northwest China have tested positive for a bacterial disease after a leak from a state-owned biopharmaceutical plant making animal vaccines last year.

Health officials in Lanzhou city said 3,245 people had contracted brucellosis, a disease often caused by close contact with infected animals or animal products that can bring about fevers, joint pain and headaches.

Another 1,401 people tested as an early positive for the disease, and health authorities said there was no evidence of person-to-person transmission so far.

I don't know much about this website. It looks like all of this happened December 2019. Around the same time, most say, the new cold virus appeared. Some information is not clear to me. Not much more out there about this that I have found, yet.

The Chinese plant used expired disinfectant while making animal vaccines. There was contaminated gas (that was not killed by the disinfectant) in the factory exhaust at the Animal Husbandry, Lanzhou Biopharmaceutical factory in Lanzhou.

The exhust created an aerosol of the bacteria Brucellosis, that was carried on the wind to the Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute. Where it infected almost 200 people in December of last year.

China says there is no evidence of person-to-person transmission so far. Let's hope they aren't lying this time.

I don't often pop my head up here but this type of incident always piques my interest.
Leaks from "High Security" laboratories involving dangerous pantheon are more common than we think.
One that comes to mind in recent times was the Pirbright Laboratory leak of Foot & Mouth Disease in the UK.

It doesn't matter how secure they think they are. Sooner or later, something gets out.
