National guard to temporarily replace violent cops

The next month we will be going from bad to worse just hope for an early winter. They are planning on rushing the White House. A lot will die. Just something I'm hearing

I was in the Marines and Guard 20 years total. Was a CPT in the Guard. The Guard is trained in police and riot tactics. It's part of annual training. They even have designated quick reaction forces. This was every unit I was in, 5 total in two states.

The training is normally given by local police who also serve in the Guard or Military Police Guard units. They do have knowledge of laws but it is specific to rules of engagement designated by the Commander or State General. The average Guard member gets training in police tactics, riots, medic, weapons qual. All of them. Even training talking to the media. This was not always the case though. It started in the mid 90's so probably why some don't think the guard trained and act like the Guard in Rambo First Blood. We could take Rambo out today easily.

What you said is on point, I am thinking that most civilians have no idea that basic training was hard to get through and have no idea what you learn. Then, after that all you do is train with gear, train to stay current and train constantly and then train some more. I would never underestimate what the capabilities of the active or non active military are.

What's interesting about the Guard, unlike the Police and Active duty, they have a wide range of civilian skill sets. We had electricians, plummers, engineers, lawyers, doctors, IT people, police, real estate agents...you name it we likely had someone for almost every civilian profession. The Guard was just a PT gig.

Exactly they're more trained. That's what I'm getting at. They bring in the National Guard already, but they use them against the people after cops have killed someone. That's messed up. They should bring in the National Guard to police the police.

Do you have examples of National Guard being more out of line than police as you claim? I would gather National Guard has their s**t together compared to donut eating shoot first ask questions later cops.

The police in general don't have loads of people waiting to join their ranks, a lot of them come from the military background. It is a dangerous and stressful job, you are firing cops you had better have a surplus of recruits ready to come in.

Then how did Seattle PD hire 100+ officers? If there's not loads of people wanting to be cops, where did the 100+ come from?

I understand your point but don't forget, the Guard has to assist in natural disasters and have been getting constantly deployed overseas for almost 20 years.

They simply can't handle another task of policing the police. They may be responding to a storm in another state or several units deployed overseas and may not be available. Plus, it's very expensive. They train one weekend a month and 2 weeks in the summer and 95% of them have a civilian job. Just not possible.

I appreciate the response, the idea just occurred to me.

Sadly I think there is an effort that people are considered enemies of authority...and authority needs to start acting more peaceful and moral and not play war games with humans. There's just so much authoritarianism animosity in the air.

There's enough careless silent people when it comes to police brutality it's a major problem. Police brutality is not a paradox. It should have been solved a long time ago. Instead it has become worse and the militarization continues to increase. Annual salaries have been made public of Seattle PD and some are making close to $500k/yr. We're going in the opposite direction of making things peaceful.
