Would it be a novel idea to have audio blogs

I don't know maybe it's already out there somewhere.

Wouldn't that be fun and work better.

You can turn me into the blog site and you hear the sucker talking to you in his voice oh that would be weird.

They should be the wave of the future seems like I don't know.

What is ATS had audio blogs wouldn't that be something would you call that an audio snippet

Isn't that what a lot of podcasts are? I realize many of them are interviews and people discussing things with 2+ people, but some are done solo, with the "author/podcaster" talking about what he/she would write in a blog.

Podcasts are my favorite form of entertainment. They are so great when I can't read but don't want to listen to music.

I knew it I'm so out of touch huh . .. well maybe there's a chance it would go over well with the audience , unless somebody mumbles

My voice you guys would get a laugh ...ya see , I'm six foot one and I'm 220 right now and my voice sounds like a pigeon with a rubber band snap halfway around his beak .....which brings to mind that's what General Patton sounded like but I finally heard up audio of Wernher von Braun oh lordy lordy lordy poor poor Werner.

Do not go search out an audio of him it will destroy your image of him

We have enough problems understanding one another with plain English text.

Imagine all the local dialects and little idiosyncrasies associated with speech?

Audio blogs could be really funny i suppose if you ken what i mean.

Podcasts are a genius thing! Jordan Peterson compares it to the Gutenberg Press, claiming it may be even a bigger deal, saying, "Not everyone can read, but everyone can listen".

Not only are there super entertaining podcasts, on any topic you'd like to hear about, but there are so many that one can educate oneself with! Of course, if someone doesn't like to expand his/her horizons, then it would be boring.

Yep, I see that point.

The pilots though all the pilots flying in the skies around the globe are speaking English over the radio anyway.....

I didn't know if an MP3 had video or not is it just you see I'm just a farmer they do paragraph o and there's that thing with the investing since I've been charting since 1965 but I like to dig my hands in the dirt

Investing I haven't had a losing day in the last two-and-a-half years but farming.

I'm trying to grow sweet corn in Texas and it would have worked this year except I didn't have chickens in there with the corn to get those grasshoppers ....chickens will take out the grasshoppers but I lost my corn about 1 week before Harvest

Uh ... It's called a "podcast". Bazillions of them out there.

I can see why podcasts are popular. They are not my favorite format however, since I can read the transcript of the entire podcast in a fraction of the time it takes me to listen to it (provided I can find a transcript).

Skeptoid is a science-related site that does podcasts, but I don't think I've ever listened to a podcast from that site, though I've read many of the podcast transcripts.

One podcast I have listened to is the science podcast done by SETI researcher Seth Shostak (with Molly). You can listen to the broadcasts on the radio live, or download the podcasts and listen to them whenever you want. Youtube has the podcasts in a semi-video format but the video only shows a static image. Here's a link to the currently top podcast in the youtube playlist:

So why do I listen to some of the Big Science podcasts, but not the Skeptoid podcasts? Because I can easily find transcripts of the Skeptoid podcasts to read, but I haven't found transcripts of the Big Science podcasts.

I didn't think there was anything wrong with von Braun's voice, maybe I was more focused on his intelligence and vision in this old documentary about space travel.

However when he talks about powering the space station with an atomic reactor, he apparently didn't consider that the station would eventually come crashing back to Earth and make a big radiation hazard when it did so. There have been a number of nuclear powered satellites on rockets that were supposed to be placed in "graveyard orbits" at end of life but some of those malfunctioned and made some radioactive messes. Aside from the nuclear power oversight though, he was a visionary, and I have no problem with his voice.

There are lots of options for podcast formats. Joe Rogan podcasts have been promoted on ATS at times like when he interviewed David Fravor of the "Tic-Tac" UFO sighting, or UAP or whatever they are calling them now. His shows are available in audio podcast, or "video podcast" which to me is just a video but he calls that a podcast too I think. Rogan's most recent podcast was with former professional boxer Mike Tyson, whose voice used to seem higher than I expected for a professional boxer, but it doesn't sound quite as high now. I think maybe voices can get deeper with age sometimes, though I still wouldn't call it a deep voice.

Thanks for the recommendations! I listen when I am driving or doing chores, when reading isn't an option. I suppose Audible is good for those times too, I just haven't gotten into that yet, as podcasts are, mostly, free.

I will be checking out the ones you linked, they sound interesting.

If you are looking for a podcast player, I like podcast republic, but there are many others. Google and Apple have their own.

Depending on what you want, there are a ton of good pods out there. Some notable ones in the area of aliens/conspiracy:

-JRE or the joe rogan experience, now on spotify exclusively, and some of his back catalog has unfortunately been removed (in particular conservative guests). Mostly not conspiracy oriented, but has a fair number of guests like bob lazar, Alex jones, etc.

-Alien Theorists Theorizing: some Canadian boys getting smashed and talking conspiracies. Light on info at times, but very entertaining.

-Hysteria 51 another fun comedy type show.

-Blurry Photos, mostly cryptid type stuff, but covers other things too. Probably the best production value of any pod I'm mentioning here.


-Open Minds UFO Radio hosted by Alejandro Rojas, just take a look at the guests he has had over the years, and you'll want to listen if you are at all interested in UFO s.

-The Black Vault Radio, an excellent show hosted by none other than John Greenewald Jr, I'm sure you guys know who he is.

-The Alien Conspiracy podcast, my own humble show.

That's just scratching the surface, there are so many shows out there, but those are some of my favorites.

Also you mentioned something about file format. Don't worry about it, the pod players handle that stuff behind the scenes. But the most common is mp3, 128, mono, cbr.

And to all the people on this forum, lots of you have interesting things to say. If you want to make a podcast of your own, you can start with free programs like Audacity, any mic (but a directional mic like the Sure sm58 helps), and some kind of host like podbean. There may be lots of shows already, but that doesn't mean there can't be more.

What an idiot.

Not everyone can listen, and even when they can, if they are not native speakers (like in my case) it's much harder to understand someone that is not a trained actor than to read something.

And no, I have never listened to a podcast, as I find them a big waste of time, even worse than videos, as there are things that only images can convey but words are much easily translated into text that I can read at my own leisure, with time to stop and look for the meaning of the words I don't know.
