Typical of the overly politically correct feminist BBC , given their favoring of Remain during Brexit and now this pathetic decision I think perhaps they should drop the British from their title.

I agree with Boris , Wet.

the BBC are a load of #e anyway , i stopped paying my license fee when they were rumbled harboring pedos

why anyone pays the fee is beyond me

this is what it took to break the camels back ? and their outright bias and the fact they hid info on pedophiles wasnt breaking the herd , never mind the yin camel

it maybe "british" heritage but I personally think its a load of #e , I think its a #e song .
the british empire ended so why sing songs that "revel " in imperialism?

As for the flower of Scotland reveling in the defeat of the enemy , its hardly offensive or anywhere mentions the bastard english , words of your own choosing mate , what line gives you the sense of reveling in the defeat ?
That it mentions the proud Edward and he was sent home?

Anyway do you really think Scotland would be allowed to have an offensive "anti english/ british" anthem ?
how long do you think that would last ?

Anyway the BBC shat it and their bottle was lost , they are scarcely hanging onto license fees as it is
maybe this will be their undoing . But if they end , then no more proms or rule britannia
you can still sing it at home and get pished

Mea culpa.

I stopped paying it for a while....but 'er indoors got her knickers in a twist and on her high horse and as she looks after paying most of the bills you can guess the rest.

......and their outright bias.....

Bias?
Half of them are middle class, champagne socialist, politically correct snowflakes pushing the apologist, cancel culture and the diversity agenda.
The other half are middle class, middle England Tories fighting to maintain the status quo at all costs.

None of them have anything in common with the majority of ordinary, everyday British people and are as out of touch as our politicians, senior clergy, senior police etc.

and the fact they hid info on pedophiles wasnt breaking the herd , never mind the yin camel

Yeah.....should have demanded a radical overhaul then.

it maybe "british" heritage but I personally think its a load of #e , I think its a #e song .

And that is your choice.....many disagree with you - licence fee payers - and enjoy singing along to it during The Last Night of The Proms.
Why should they be dictated to and denied something they thoroughly enjoy doing.

the british empire ended so why sing songs that "revel " in imperialism?

Its about having a bit of fun.....no-one is saying the slave trade was ok or anything like that.

Massive big #ing mountain out of very #ing small molehill springs to mind.
I was talking to a mate of mine a bit earlier - a 6 foot 2 Rastafarian - and he thinks its #ing hilarious and really doesn't give a toss what people do.

As for the flower of Scotland reveling in the defeat of the enemy , its hardly offensive ......

I wish I'd had a pound for every time I've heard that.
Not if you're Scottish.
If it was English people singing about beating and killing Scots - look at the furore over the anti-Jacobite sentiments of the now never sung second verse of God Save The Queen, which is by the way a truly awful song.
Plenty of Scottish knickers in a twist over that.

....or anywhere mentions the bastard english , words of your own choosing mate ,.....

True....but it does imply that.
A bit of dramatic licence to make a point.

Anyway do you really think Scotland would be allowed to have an offensive "anti english/ british" anthem ?

Of course you can....who is going to stop you?
Scotland has quite considerable powers over its own governance......I very much doubt anyone could do anything about it if that's what the Scots people want.

Flower of Scotland is hardly complimetary or conciliatory to your English neighbours.

But I fear we are digressing.

Anyway the BBC shat it and their bottle was lost ,.....

Its a crap compromise......very shallow and very lame.

....they are scarcely hanging onto license fees as it is

Just a matter of time I think.

maybe this will be their undoing . But if they end , then no more proms or rule britannia

Not quite the same mate.
Take the time to watch the video's in my first post in this thread.....you make not like the music but you can't deny its good watching people coming together and just having a bit of fun.
They aren't thinking about slavery or empire or anything really other than just singing together and having a good time together.
Maybe not everyone's cup of tea but who are these people in their ivory towers to deny them their bit of fun?

Wankers!

Another Yank question here...

why is there even a fee, or tax more like...?? Doesn't the BBC sell advertising...? In essence they're charging you for having a TV??

The BBC is a publicly owned broadcaster, the oldest in the world.

It does not have advertising , but is funded by the government and the license fee payer.

At it's headquarters, Broadcasting House in London, there stands a statue of George Orwell, and behind the statue inscribed on the wall are the words "If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear "

True words in today's world.

I cant resist the post script...

"THE BBC has been mocked after Land of Hope and Glory reached the top of the iTunes chart following a backlash over the broadcaster's decision to perform the patriotic song without lyrics at the Last Night of the Proms."

www.express.co.uk...

As the song almost says... Britons never ever ever will be slaves (to political correctness or anythjng else).

Unfortunately, the BBC have lost the plot. They are no longer reporting the news, but making it. That's not a healthy situation. Something will change.

The BBC need to get back to basics and demonstrate "PUBLIC SERVICE" rather than "private club".
