Since Friday, millions of Californians have been abruptly plunged into darkness with little notice, reminiscent of the mass blackouts that the state’s utilities carried out less than a year ago to keep their electrical lines from sparking fires during unusually strong windstorms.

Part of the problem is California’s rapid shift away from natural gas. About 9 gigawatts of gas generation, enough to power 6.8 million homes, have been retired over the past five years as the state turns increasingly to renewables, according to BloombergNEF. That leaves fewer options when the sun sets and solar production wanes.

Normally, California can import enough power from neighboring states when supplies are tight. But the sprawling heat wave blanketing the U.S. West is pushing power plants to the hilt across the region.

Despite the fact that California is fighting a heatwave, and fighting forest fires, and despite the fact that with only about 36% of their power coming from renewable sources. Authorities/democrats in California want renewable power in California to get to 60%, when right now they have rolling blackouts.

Remember when left-wingers were claiming "we are not going to turn the U.S. into Venezuela?" It seems that they are closer to making their wish come true of turning at least parts of the U.S. into Venezuela.

Under Chavez blackouts were enforced because "to fight climate change." Which is what democrats/authorities in California want by 2030 if not before.

Intresting. I did not know that, but am not suprised.California and its policies are ridiculous. Severe water shortaged every year. People outside at 10:00 at night watering their plants and grass because they are trying to not let the neighbors know they are wasteful.

i am not rejoicing anything... I am posting facts which you apparently want to ignore.

If states/countries like California continue with this BS they will turn into Venezuela. That's a FACT. You are just too brainwashed and dumb down to realize.

Blackouts were introduced in Venezuela by Chavez "to combat climate change..." And because of this policy many Venezuelans have died waiting for operations in hospitals because of a lack of power and resources. Venezuela has become a third world nation because of "climate change policies," meanwhile the people go hungry and don't have the basic staples they need to survive. Not to mention the fact that Maduro/Chavez also armed their loyalists/Chavistas meanwhile disarming everyone else, like the left wants to do in the U.S.

Wars will always exist. Look at what's happening with the communists/socialists/anarchists and the left-wing leaders and media in the U.S. claiming they are just "protesting peacefully" meanwhile they destroy people's small businesses, they destroy public property, attack and even ambush police officers, they keep beating up, robbing, and killing people just if the Antifa/BLM thugs think those people are not in favor of the communist goals of Antifa/BLM.

If wars are not fought over resources, they will be fought over ideals, or for some other reason. You can't stop wars, just as you can't stop nature.

California's blackouts will become worse the more they keep trying to use renewable energy. At the stage we are in renewables cannot provide power for countries to function. Not to mention the fact that plastic, asphalt, etc whether you like it or not, are necessary for many reasons including healthcare.

Asphalt itself is a by-product of oil, how will we repair roads without oil?

What we must focus on is finding ways to recycle plastic, asphalt, etc. Then we won't need to make so much more by-products of oil.

Societies cannot function without oil and it's by-products unless some VIABLE new source is found. Wind, solar, etc are not viable. Maybe when technology gets better years or decades in the future we will find better replacements for oil and it's by-products. But as it is, even Europe is slowing down in it's integration of "renewables" as a power source.

I wonder how they will implement their taxes on people who have left, and will leave California. Unless the state they move into agrees with these policies left-wing authoritarian fascists in charge of California won't be able to enforce their tax on people moving to other states.

If you go over to Indiana and buy a car, in order to avoid the 11% tax, you have to pay the 11% Illinois rate anyway.
