That is not how vaccines work.

How vaccines work

A vaccine works by training the immune system to recognize and combat pathogens, either viruses or bacteria. To do this, certain molecules from the pathogen must be introduced into the body to trigger an immune response.

These molecules are called antigens, and they are present on all viruses and bacteria. By injecting these antigens into the body, the immune system can safely learn to recognize them as hostile invaders, produce antibodies, and remember them for the future. If the bacteria or virus reappears, the immune system will recognize the antigens immediately and attack aggressively well before the pathogen can spread and cause sickness.

The idea is that by using dead pathogens the body learns to combat them without the risk of the person becoming sick and/or spreading the illness. The same thing happens with herd immunity but people become sick and spread the illness with some possibly dying before reaching herd immunity.

Yes, there is discussion of this online. But no, I'll not do your work for you.

I'll just assume you can't.

But let me ask you something else.
Why hasn't heard immunity happened with the other corona virus that we all know about?
The one we call the flu?

What I described is exactly what happens, but it's only part of the picture. What you described is also true, our immune system remembers the virus in order to quickly defend against it in the future. The main thing which makes us feel ill when we are sick is not the virus its self but our immune response to the virus, after our immune system has been exposed to the virus any future immune response to that virus will be much less severe. That's also why scientists are so interested in studying the immune system of bats, their immune system can handle a large number of viruses without going into overdrive. In any case the end result is the same, we gain long term immunity to most viruses after we are exposed to the living or dead version (although I would argue a stronger and longer term immunity is gained via exposure to the living virus).

Bats are known to harbor highly pathogenic viruses like Ebola, Marburg, Hendra, Nipah, and SARS-CoV, and yet they do not show clinical signs of disease. In a paper published in the journal Cell Host & Microbe on February 22, scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China find that in bats, an antiviral immune pathway called the STING-interferon pathway is dampened, and bats can maintain just enough defense against illness without triggering a heightened immune reaction.

"We believe there is a balance between bats and the pathogens they carry," says senior author Peng Zhou. "This work demonstrated that in order to maintain a balance with viruses, bats may have evolved to dampen certain pathways."

How bats carry viruses without getting sick

From what I understand the flu is not a coronavirus, the common cold is a coronavirus. But the answer is we do gain herd immunity to the strains which are going around in that year. Unfortunately viruses tend to mutate and evolve over time and Covid-19 is likely to do the same thing. The point is we cannot keep everything locked down until we have a man-made solution, we need to start using the immune systems we were born with and stop letting fear control us. Especially in these places where the flu is now killing many times more people than Covid-19 is, one we get over these waves and we gain herd immunity we should be fine for at least a year.

Furthermore, since our immune systems will have already had some experience with Covid-19 strains there's a very high probably that when the next flu season comes around, the impact of Covid-19 will be negligible. By that time most people will have been vaccinated and then they'll just say it's all because of the vaccine. I can already see it now, it'll be another great example of man-made herd immunity at work, while ignoring the fact it's no longer a novel virus because our immune systems have seen it before, and the fact new Covid strains are becoming less deadly as expected. I'm sure a vaccine will help reduce the severity but I don't view it as crucial.

What you described was the immune system being distracted by dead pathogens so it can't react as strongly. Do you really think the pathogens that a 2 year old gets in a vaccine are still there being contained when they are 40?

While the body's reaction to an infection are some of the symptoms felt: fever, swollen lymph nodes, sniffles, etc., they are not usually the fatal symptoms. For example the hemorrhaging caused by ebola, the spasms caused by tetanus and the dead tissue in gangrene are not caused by the reaction from the immune system. If unchecked the viruses/bacteria themselves cause illness/death.

Vaccines are not about splitting the body's defenses to mitigate its reaction. It is about attacking the pathogens before they can get a foothold, multiply and cause the illness. That requires a quick and strong reaction.

You know what they say about assumption...

Why hasn't heard immunity

-sigh- again, it is herd immunity, not 'heard' immunity... geesh, why do I wast my time?

I never claimed that herd immunity is something that always happens with all viruses... though it does make sense.

Or, maybe it is just people with crappy immune systems that cannot achieve any level of lasting immunity...

In fact, that makes the most sense, since in my own experience, when I was very unhealthy, I got sick all the time, every time someting went around home or the office, I got it.

Now, since I got healthy and started eating right, I never get sick, even when I'm in close proximity to friends and family members who are sick for extended periods.

And I'm not the only one. Lots of people talk about how they notice they never get sick when they change to a healthy lifestyle.
