Very intelligent and inquisitive animals, wisely they are also very shy of human's but I remember one night coming home from work when two of them perched in a tree and just watched me, I stopped and looked at them quite happy at the rare experience, over here in the UK owl's have come close to extinction several time's, they hunt by sight and hearing and are reliant upon small game for there prey, the loss of habitats such as hedge rows over here nearly put paid to them as there numbers diminished even more with the loss of there prey's habitat.

Fear of thunder is a wise thing as well especially when you live in a tree.

I would never have the patience but I live quite close to a wildfowl nature reserve in Lancashire north west England.
This is another species of owl native to the UK.

Wildlife sanctuary's are proof Human's can also save wildlife, can also bring it back from the brink it just need's folk's to be educated and to see the value in the animal's that many of them are oblivious to, we live in our own nests, four wall's and roof, we go to work in a tin box, come home and the most nature many folk's see is there lawn but the world has so much more to offer.

That's very adorable.

Animals are more intelligent than most people realize, and are more in tune to nature and frequencies than we are. After all, they have been around a bit longer, and their instinct is still considerably more in tact.

Such a cute little owl.

That poor baby! Our doofus of a cat acts the same way. But then again, any sort of loud noise has her freaking out.

Poor little guy. Needs a woobie and some mice to snack on.

Semi-related, saw three young screech owls with momma on a roadkill deer yesterday.

Looked like angry birds. Cute as hell.
