Smooth Isolator

Thought some people here might enjoy some of the music I've created, don't know why I haven't shared it before, worried about criticism I guess. My most recent song "Smooth Isolator" is an expression of my feelings during current times. However some of these songs go back over a decade, with Tropical Trance being the first ever song I created. There are also a few more songs on my channel if you're interested.

Which software and main instruments are you using?

I used Magix Music Maker to create most of these. Typically I use pre-made instrument loops with a little bit of tweaking. I know it's a lazy approach but I don't really have the time to make everything from scratch, and I think having the creativity to put together loops in a way that sounds good is a skill of its own.

Indeed it is, your stuff may not be my cup of tea, but kudos for having the inspiration and creativity to put it together.

Reason I asked is I've been looking into getting some software the last few weeks, so thanks for replying

As for instruments, I tend to focus most on piano and percussion type classical music. I like to mix together a lot of different styles into something which sounds interesting, but my main focus is epic-style orchestral music. It's hard to describe but I think you'll get the general idea if you listen to most of my songs.

I liked the first one so much that I will listen to more.

The base line was fluid and surprising in it's variations. Not a simple base line but in a way more interesting than the guitar sounding line that road on top of it. The basic theme.

That theme, for my taste could have been more creative, that is, once it had been established, a nice expansion of that theme into some jazzy riffs before coming back to that major theme could have helped extend the piece into a longer piece.

What I really liked was you sprinkling of ''other'' sounds many of which were percussive. Very nice

You definitely have an ear for music, because I kind of half-assed the last part of that song and you can easily detect it. I definitely could have fleshed it out a lot more but I was 3/4 done and just wanted an ending that sounded decent. The last part definitely could have been done better, you're right. But I'm still fairly proud of the first half, it's a very unique set of sounds that encapsulates many emotions simultaneously.

Btw the background for the Smooth Isolator song is from the Mushishi anime. It's honestly one of the best animes ever made. The main character Ginko attracts the "mushi" creatures to him, meaning he cannot stay in one place too long. So he is forced to wander alone forever, but he makes the best of it by traveling from town-to-town, using his expertise to solve mushi-related problems for people in need.

Way of the Dunmer

Wow. That's a nice little theme at the very beginning. My only suggestion here is the back up music in those first few seconds. You play that theme once and the second time you play it you introduce an ''echo'' which you you play twice before expanding that ''echo'' into a real nice back up. Those first to ''echoes'' are weak and might be looked at, somehow making them, oh, ''sweeter'' instead of so plane. But by the third time you play that line with the additions it is really nice.

ANother thing I liked a lot was about mid way through the piece when you went into that quick section, like a bunch of sixteenth notes rolling over and over each other. That reminded me of Shostakovitch . I t might have been nice to hear that bit flow back into it nearer the end, not as a major sound but more a trailing back ground sound.

Epic Mission

Here, I have a complaint. But first, roving piano line was thrilling, I liked that a lot. However, for my taste, you do one thing in this piece that I think could be left out. At the beginning of each phrase, the accent drum and accordance along with it ''anchors'' it to much, makes it almost to militant. Without that heavy ''beat'' that comes to dominate the piece it prevents much of the rest of the work from flying on it's own.

Tropical Trance

Man, you filled this one with a lot of surprises. Remember in my comments on taking the main theme and adding some jazzy riffs to it, making it a longer piece? Here you have and it's very nice

I really like the way you take a trance mood and use it as a build up for more spritely concoctions. I loved the bongo in it though the back up music during those sessions might have been better in the back ground instead of being so loud, almost taking away from the bongo message.

Mostly I loved your syncopation in all your pieces. Very creative. Lovely work Mr. Order. I hope you don't my my constructive criticism. I guess in a way I was trying to help you compose them where on my own, I could not even come close to your creations. Thanks for the journey.

Yes, indeed. That describes all of the pieces you offered. Unique set of sounds. THat's what I meant when I said a lot of what I heard was surprising. Unique sounds dancing around each other. I imagine that that is a difficult thing to do without having the result being all disjointed and stuff. Yours hold together very nicely.

Don't mind the criticism at all, I can tell you appreciate what I've done with some of these pieces and your feedback is helpful.
