Any links to the actual studies...or anything not the daily mail?

I am 75% certain this is the JAMA study referenced.

That would be a good study. But it would also Scare the crap out of most people.

A CAT scan will find either heart disease or cancer in 7 out of every 10 subjects.

Especially here in America.

So...they took 100 patients, 17 of which underwent ventilation, which is known to cause cardiovascular problems, 16 of which had underlying heart problems, found there was some small amount of acute myocardial inflammation in 60-70 of those patients, and only amongst ones that exhibit symptoms according to the limitations of the study.

Now, as I understand it covid is a respiratory syndrome, your cardiovascular system is highly dependent on your respiratory system to function. Reduced lung function is known to cause stress on the cardiovascular system. It would make sense that a supressed respiratory system would cause inflammation and stress to the cardiovascular system, not because the virus is attacking It, but because the cardiovascular system is directly affected by problems with the respiratory system, especially the heart. The discussion in the published article touches on this, the daily mail article does not. It also fails to mention the small sample size of the study, or the limitations the authors themselves mention.

If coronavirus causes heart problems, can Hydrochlorothiazide (a medication that causes irregular heartbeats) be used to treat it long term?

I would bet that no tests of the heart were done before covid in many of the cases. People don't go to the doctor everytimes there is a pain in their chest area, they don't want the doctor to be saying it is just heartburn and to drink a little water. Because they do heart monitor tests after or during the covid, it might just show up then even though it could have pre-existed without much symptoms.

Yes, Covid can cause heart damage, but you cannot blame heart damage on covid without having pre=existing research.

Your heart got the same cells as found in your lungs at which Covid-19 can bind/take over easily and make copies of itself and so damage it.

That's why, also it does damage to other organs (even your balls if you are male), since this disease is new much more research is needed and soon you have many more study's about how damaging it is to the hearth and other organs etc.
