And yet, who tf were the Confederates that were right wing, conservative, in the south, and for slavery?
Because the Union was Republicans, and yet the Union was centered in the Northeast, modern day Democrat areas.

It's pretty easy to answer, the Republican Party was originally the party of Progressivism. The change began during the Depression when they began to oppose Roosevelt's policies and the Democrat Party began to fracture into what would become the Dixiecrats and the Northern Progressive wings of the party.

So AOC and Bernie Sanders would've been Republican back then?
Who would the Confederates be today?

The real winner in the Civil War, The War Between The States, The War of Southern Succession. . . . .
Was a guy named Carl. He actually was named the winner.
In a little known ceremony, President Abraham Lincoln named Carl the winner.
He received a trophy, a gift card to Starbucks (for 50 dollars), and a banjo.
Way to go Carl!
Way to go!
