4 years ago No Man's Sky launched to much disappointment and derision , undeterred by the backlash Hello Games stuck with their baby and fixed the problems with patches and free content updates to deliver the ambitious game they originally promised , not satisfied with just fixing their game they have continued to add to it at no extra cost to their player base and today the latest free content update has released ... No Man's Sky desolation.

Now we get to explore and loot abandoned freighters.

In an age where developers charge for minor stuff like custom skins and other content updates Hello Games has shown itself to be the only developer out there who care about both their game and the people who play it, No Man's Sky is now an escapists paradise where all you have to do is do what you want to do and I love it and the development team behind it.

Thank you Hello Games , you are like an oasis in a desert of crappy money grabbing shysters.

This looks great-Ive sunk over 100 hours into NMS and since I got the living ship and mech suit I have run out of stuff to do.
I will be firing it up again soon to explore some derelicts.
Love the way they keep piling on more content!

I've logged 162 hours on the save I started when Beyond launched but I've yet to build a mech suit , it's on my to do list along with building a sub but I'm still busy just wandering between planets watching Sunrises and cataloging weird jumping mushroom creatures.

Heh... bought NMS for the ps4, just because it had a VR mode comming out... never actually played it in VR

And i only played it for about 2 mins on flat screen.. and died at the beginning..which was a slight turn off

Considered buying it again on steam.. but idk if its worth the price

They are a small team of just 25 people who have continued to support their game and deliver new content at no cost to owners of the game over the last 4 years , I don't understand why you've lost trust in them given the work they've put in.

Have you also lost trust with EA , Bethesda , Ubisoft and the like for continually milking players of their cash and delivering the same old same old year after year ?

Play it in VR mate , ship takes a bit of controlling but the sense of scale is brilliant ... I never knew my ship was so big until I saw it in my headset.

this is one of the games that i hope is available on next gen, so I can continue my endless journey through the vastness of space, not played for a while and forgot a lot of the intricacies, might need to refresh first, but I have got a sub

I played elite dangerous for a long while... idk how it could compare but NMS does have boots on the ground... and critters on planets...

You think its worth the $$$

Pretty cool. Guess I have to dust off the old Index.

The only problem with all of this is... It's been so long since the beginning and I've amassed more money and resources to where it's just not fun anymore. You can only buy so many things before you have the best of everything, or at least as close as possible. It almost feels meaningless now. For me, this would only be eye candy but the thrill of it is gone. It's become infinitely repetitive, especially if I want to go through the center of the galaxy over and over and over and over and over and....

I avoided it for Empyrion then one day I decided what the hell, when I got my index.

SE and Emy both are very similar to one another and agreed, both have vastly more than NMS

Ewwww.... EA.... Those guys get none of my money ever again since they dumped on UO and destroyed the hell out of it all those years ago. That game could have been far greater than it ever was.

There are a few Russian developers that have come out with some quality games. They're not really pay to win, but they're definitely optioned for pay to advance way quicker than normal. Otherwise you struggle but the games I've been playing are hella fun... even still.

Crossout is a really good one. Especially if you like building vehicles... with guns... and explosives... full pvp madness.

Heroes and Generals was once a great game. It still is but it's so buggy and dead now days because of the DEVs milking players to death.

I hate where games have gone... Pay to win, pay to advance, pay for stuff no one else has... It's total BS! Now they'll cookie cutter their expansions all day long to give you minimal content so they can squeeze every last drop from you before they abandon their games, leaving players going WTF! Used to... You couldn't sell an unplayable game. Now days, it's quite common. Games are patched until death and the DEVs simply walk away and players are left with a game they spent hundreds into while no longer being able to play them.

For companies that do this... When they do this, that game should be instant free open source - ware. Where anyone and everyone has rights to expand and distribute at will.

Hats off to Hello Games. The progression over time and dedication to its fan base has been beyond admirable in an ocean of microtransaction milkers. Excited for this. It's been a little while since I've been exploring through deep space, but off to download the update and dive on in!

I bought the game and played release day and I was I think one of the few who was not disappointed at the time. People built up this game to unrealistic levels of hype in their own minds. The game they imagined and the game they got were two very different things.

It was a good game that only got better with time. I still pop on from time to time just to pick a solar system and go walk around for a hour or two. It’s relaxing at times and the soundtrack is awesome.

I’ll make a prediction cyber punk 2077 will get lots of back lash because at the end of the day reality always falls short of people’s fantasy.

It was also the devs that lied their ass off to create hype. They probably reedemed themselves by now, but ill never peorder a game again.

Developers can just lie and create fake trailers to make the game look much better than it actually is.

I don’t think they lied at all, i think people heard what they wanted to hear. And seen what they wanted to see. The game is a random and procedural, you might never get the dinosaur planet odds are no one will ever find anything remotely like it.

I’ll be pre ordering diablo 4, hollow knight silksong and a few other up coming games. I need a new computer though mine literally fried right before my raid on classic wow last Friday.

I got disappointed once so now I have to change my entire philosophy is such a reddit thing to do.

Except nobody found the really cool stuff in the trailer like giant space battles, dinasaurs, giant sandworms.

The procedural generation didn't contain any of that in the early game. Also, the PR dev did in fact lie and say there was multiplayer and other things that were not in the game.

There's alot of videos out there showing the dev lying and you can tell by his demeanor that he was BSing.

The BSing to sell many more thousands of copies is what ticked me off. It's definitely arguable that they have redeemed themselves but initially they commited blatant lies to the public.

Im just saying, i learned my lesson about preording. And honestly, there is no reason to today.

The only reason I do it is because I prefer hard copies of my games so I have some thing to put on the shelf to speak. Hard copies sell out fast if they are not reserved.

I understand where you are coming from.
