Help! Mods? Tech questions...

I think its the Microsoft program on my Hewlett Packard but I just cant seem to upload any images at all. The next question is kind of emberassing but just how do I properly post a link? Just shows how computer literate I am...please help! Thanks! Sos

I'm not a mod but I'll try to help.

The upload section of ATS is currently disabled, so it's probably not your computer. If you wish to upload an avatar, you can instead use image hosting services such as Imageshack or Photobucket and paste the url of the uploaded image into the avatar url box in your settings. For more info click here.

To post a link you can either copy and paste the entire url (web address) like this:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Be sure to include the http:// prefix!

If the url is very long (it will play havoc with the formatting of the page) or you wish to "embed" the link into your text, in your post composition screen (where you type your new posts) you can hit the globe/Earth icon and it will first ask you what text you want displayed, then what the url is. It will automatically do the coding for you to turn text into an embedded link.

Alternatively you can type the code manually by placing the [ url=] [/url ] tags on either end of the url.

So it should be like this (without the spaces in the tags):

[ url=http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread109510/pg1]Click me[/url ]

If it works, it will end up looking like this: Click me

You should have a few tries on this thread to see if you have got the hang of it.

Questions like these should probably be posted on this thread where Asala the Friendly Mod (not related to Casper) will answer all your questions. You can even put youself up for adoption in the Adopt a Newbie thread and let a more experienced member guide you in the ways of ATS. I would be willing to adopt you if you want.
