Well then, what is going on?

I live in a mostly secure suburban area. As a matter of fact, my zipcode is probably one of the most sought after zipcodes in my state. About 95 percent white (I am SO sorry for that) and about 90 percent conservative as far as voting goes.

I have noticed in the last month that I have seen several brownouts - whereas there were none for several years. And those that did happen made sense - either terrible storms or insane heat waves. Also, how did brownouts happen when most businesses were closed?
I have noticed a horrible degradation in cell phone service if not total outages.
I have noticed more internet and cable outages than I have ever seen in my living here since 2002.
I have noticed that even community BB's are moderating anti Antifa and anti BLM posts with a somewhat iron fist or if not that, then having people on the boards as mods that take time (more than anyone working has) to deceive and soft belly what they are and what they are doing and how ALL OF US should support them.
I do believe that because of these things there is a definite orchestrated "rebellion" going on. Is it just me? Am I just paranoid? What should I do? SHould I just go ahead and raise a pink unicorn flag in my own trashcan to show these powers that my ass is ready to be stuffed with pomo technocratic BS?

Has to do with how the grid is managed. Could be there was a big load connected to the grid and the power plants did not regulate fast enough.

Then the frequency and voltage drop quickly, because the crankshaft in the power plant is directly affected through the magnetic field that couples it with the grid.

Think of the load like a brake on the generator shaft. They have to put more steam (or water, depends on the plant) through the turbines to give it more momentum and keep it on the correct RPM so the angry electrons keep being swung back and forth at the perfect rate and also peak and bottom voltage.

There is a lag in detection and applying changes. The signal way, mechanical lag all these things play a role. I worked for a company stabilizing the grid.

Perhaps consider making the moves to gain power self-sufficiency?

Kinda depends on your location & situation on the best way to do it, but the tech is there and has never been more accessible.

Over the past decades there have been various concerns about our powergrid structure, and over the past few decades knocking out the powergrid has been a shiny goal for extremists.

So, are brownouts, slow internet connections, and all of our connectivity issues due to more people working at home, and we aren't actually currently capable of being as "connected" as technologists would have us believe.

Or is it because we still have huge amounts of the damn thing super old and outdated?

Are the utility companies or someone else placing huge loads online to test it?

Are individual or collective extremists trying to knock it offline?

The world may never know.

Power self sufficiency is great. My old place had a solar system complete with battery rack and emergency takeover. It was great. Never had to do anything to it because it was just doing it's job fine and also making money on top of it. Zero power outs except one time but that was my own fault.

We do have power outages, one or two times a year approximate but it was a calming feeling this self sufficiency. One time they neighbors came asking why we still have power. That is the downside if you are the only one in the vincinity.

People will ask to have power cords attached to the house because of a thousand reasons. If you say yes one time, they have their foot in the door and come back each time. Then be angry at you for years, for asking if it is for the TV or something necessary like the oil burner or fridge.

It was for the TV, every rural home here has a satellite dish, so they know that it will work if you hook it up to a generator.
