Well, someone has to talk about it. Herd Immunity to Covid-19 is about the only way to get the country or the world back to some resemblance of normal.

Being from Arizona, a border state with Mexico, I have paid attention to what Mexico has and has not done with regards to Covid-19. Mexico barely closed and is already reopening. Mexico and other 3rd world countries can't afford to close down for a pandemic. That means Covid-19 will run rampid in 3rd world countries, mutating and widespread.

As Covid 19 mutates and mutates and mutates while widespread in all of the poor countries of the world, vaccines become less and less likely. It will be near enough impossible to put a vaccine on the market that could possibly protect against all Covid 19 strains and mutations.

Which means Herd Immunity to Covid-19 becomes the only option. People can't hide in their homes waiting years and years for a vaccine for every mutation and every strain of Covid 19. The people of the United States can't live in bubbles while 3rd world countries develop herd immunity.

When poor countries of the world can't afford to shut down, and they don't shut down, the poor people in those countries that survive obtain herd immunity to Covid 19. Survival of the fittest.

If Americans don't step up to the plate and keep trying to hide in bubbles, then there will be too many mutations of Covid 19 running rampid and those living in bubbles will never be able to leave their bubbles again.

Perhaps the government should employ an alternate strategy. A get fit strategy. Teach people how to boost their immune systems to fight off Covid 19. Teach people how to eat a diet that will boost their immune system to fight off Covid 19.

After all, since the spread of Covid 19 cannot be stopped and the mutations of Covid 19 cannot be stopped around the world, it becomes a matter of survival of the fittest.

Have you made an effort to boost your immune system to be fit enough to survive Covid 19?

I haven't been "prepping" my immune system and I don't get enough sleep because I work overtime (I'm off!).

However, I'm 4-6ft away from hundreds upon hundreds of customers half of the week in the drive thru and to a lesser extent the front register. I also goto Wal-Mart every other day and pass by hundreds more people.

At Wal-Mart I try to keep my mask on, same for work (it's the rules but as long as it's somewhere on your face they don't say anything), but to be honest I cheat alot and wear it just under my nostrils so I can breathe easier without having hot steam face. I've been doing this since the start of the outbreak and no problems here. I'd like to think, even hope, that I've been exposed to micro-doses of covid-19 and have built some sort of novel immunity, no pun intended on the novel bit.

Sometimes, I honestly feel like the mask is extra and not needed but I try my best. There's 258 cases in my city of close to a 300k population. I feel socially awkward if I don't wear it. Early on, I felt like I stood out for wearing it.

I think there are an absolutely incredible amount of things we can do to "fight" this virus, and many others. Even going to the extent where we might greatly minimize "flu" season as well as improve quality of life across the board.

The hurdle seems to be the hyper-focus on a single virus and an absurd relationship with news & media. Coupled with "experts" that have blatant conflicts of interest when it comes to the "lockdown til vaccines" narrative.. and its tricky.

I mean, the vast majority of people seem to realize the news lies and manipulates.. organizations and even the peer review process do the same.. yet they still willingly have their reality shaped by them and make endless excuses as to why thats a good thing. Then it all gets reinforced through platforms like facebook and twitter. I think its utterly bizarre.

If the news, the experts, etc. ever started to talk about actually improving public health with as much fervor as they talk about lockdowns, disinfecting, masks, and vaccines.. I might consider the possibility they arent all corrupt.

Until then, Ill just assume they have motives that have absolutely nothing to do with our best interests.

The Government, CDC, and the WHO know jack of #.

Sorry, but when treatments have been politicized and studies faked, there is no way to trust any of them with your health.

Well, illness in general is sure to go down. Things like bacterial infections of all kinds, flu viruses too.

Idk if life will ever be quite the same. Everything is so germ concious now. Sanitize hands at every opportunity, fear of being too close to strangers when talking without a mask on. Random handshakes, being close in general.

I wonder how going to clubs and bars is going to be. Will people dance packed together? Ever? Sitting next to random people at bars and socializing. Will the memory of this change people's interactions for years to come?

In the short term, possibly. Highly debatable though, particularly with pretty terrible data gathering, deceptive statistics, our innate inability to comprehend scale, and a digital veil between us and everything happening "out there."

I would say almost certainly. I know that was the intent behind everything from the media coverage to the statistics. It was talked about quite openly during Event 201 as well as during the pandemic. They wanted to create a perpetual state of preparedness (just like this..) and of course, a corresponding increase in funding.

Mutations are overall a good thing, typically it mutates into something less and less severe...however most mutations don't mutate too far off the beaten path for vaccines to not work.
Think of a human killing vaccine. mutations happen in humans all the time also, some slightly different hair texture, different eye color over time, etc...its not like we mutate into an iguana in a single generation.

As far as herd immunity, you realize it takes about 60% of the population to get to that point. We are at what, like .00025% or so?
US has up to 10% mortality rate based on current statistics of who has overcome verses died. various results around the world from about 3% on up. lets say 5%. Thats around 400m worldwide dead from this, or if only the US counts, about 16 million. Thats it, right? nope, because even if you and wifey got it and become immune, then you have a baby, baby is not immune, so the virus still lurking has new victims to eventually rough up.

So the second bit is bad news of course, but luckily the first bit is good news because of your misunderstanding of how vaccines work (common around these parts). Everything will be okay, just make sure to get the jab once available...or dont and prep for a long sickness and/or death. up to you, freedom of choice and all that. Just remember that some people simply can't get the vaccs because of health issues, so stay away from them should you go all anti-vaxxer...remember, you can take your own life, but not those around you.

From what I've read, most vaccine research is targeting components of the virus which don't readily mutate. Sort of a root of the problem vaccine theory.

that said, they can stick the vaccine up their collective wahoos.

They have not been able to make a vaccine for the coronavirus cold, they have tried and failed. They also have not been able to make a vaccine for SARS. I am sure that even if they can't make a vaccine, we will be injected with a fake one because by that time a lot of people in this country will already have partial immunity and they will take credit for the people who do not get sick, just like they do with the flu. A real lot of people have lifelong immunity to the flu viruses, but they talk them into taking the vaccine anyway because their success rate would be poor without those people who cannot get a bad case of the flu because they have immunity already.

I have lost faith in modern medicine, I do believe that we do need surgeons and some doctors, but the pill pushers should be trained in metabolomics so they could inform people how not to get sick.

your very thesis is incorrect.

if it mutates that quickly, herd immunity is impossible.

trying to get americans to eat right? what are you trying to do, turn us into "soy-boys"?

next you'll want us to go to the far more simple and easy to understand metric system!

Unless some advanced technology *cough* saves us, Herd Immunity was the only real solution on the table. Hiding in our homes and distancing is only dragging this thing out so those with authority and resources can get more authority and resources.

I've been eating more fresh fruits and vegetables and getting more sunshine (as in throwing all the blinds and curtains wide open as soon as I get up and not closing until sundown) and so far it has been successful. I go out in public several times a week around large crowds, only wear a mask where it is required for entry (physical therapy and doctor's office) and still hug my friends when I see them.

The ironic part of all of this is that I usually stay sick at least half of the year but I have been amazingly well since becoming very ill in the fall with a bug that displayed all of the symptoms of Covid-19 though per "experts" it didn't exist in the US at that time. I jokingly call my husband "Typhoid Mary" because though he rarely gets sick he passes every germ and virus going around wherever he is working on to me and I end up as sick as a dog but so far this year the only illness I've had is one mild 24 hour bug. I do sometimes wonder if that is because others are keeping their germs to themselves by staying at home as under normal circumstances sick people are out and about far too often when they should be at home.

I dont know how serious your post actually is.. But thats not quite how our immune system works. People should look into this stuff, because its pretty amazing.

Cross immunity can even happen between fully different pathogens (!).

Notably, vaccines can result in virus interference, which is essentially the opposite of cross immunity. So, something like an influenza vaccine can render us more susceptible to a coronavirus. A vaccination can also greatly exacerbate any illness that can cause severe cytokine issues.

On the pharma/medicine side of things, we would be looking at RdRPs inhibitors in general. Something as simple as blasting the our cells with zinc appears to stall, or even halt, viral replication regardless of pathogen. DRACOs appears to also target things at a systems level, and is some amazing stuff to boot.

Proper diet is going to be more specific to the individual than most imagine, and imo includes both physical and mental "diets." In this context, we would be looking at foods that bring our vitamin levels in check, alongside getting good ol sunlight, etc.

Annnd, I like the metric system and tend to use it as a preference

Once again... People need support.
Natural selection is in fact not about survival of the fittest.
It's about survival of the flexible.
The ones that ajust survive, the ones that don't will go extinct..
Get your facts straight

I agree. But I won't take the vaccine to this one even if it goes on the market. I won't take a flu vaccine either. The last flu vaccine I had was an experimental one in 1990. It was a test study. Hopefully it never made it on the market because all it did was make me sick for months.

But it does kind of point to a problem. The pharmaceutical industry and medical industry is pretty much controlling the media right now. Every major news network is paid billions by different pharmaceutical companies, thus they are controlling the media and many politicians.

Agreed. I pretty much figure that the majority of people in my nearby neighborhood already caught it in March, when tests were unavailable in Arizona. That's when everyone in my apartment complex had a 2-3 week cough and couldn't breathe and we all lost the ability to smell and taste.

It's now June, three months later and the stay at home orders have been lifted. I have not worn a mask at any store or restaurants that I have been to.

Now the rest of the population has been coming out of their homes for the last 2 weeks. And there's now 5,722 cases KNOWN with testing in a 7 mile radius of where I live. I pretty much figure I built up an immunity in March and April. And I'm hoping to catch a few more mutations of Covid to build up an even better immunity.

Yet I still keep watching all this crap on the news trying to get everyone to hide at home and cover their faces with cloth masks that won't and don't protect them anyway.

There's NO HIDING from this one. It's all over the world and it will just keep resurfacing over and over again. So if you can't hide from it, then the only thing that can be done is prepare your immune system, build up your immune system and face it.
