How on earth are you people drawing these conclusions, how is a boiling over of emotions from being held down by the system, disenfranchised and abused the same as staying home in a pandemic, the level of disconnect is mind blowing to say the least, no wonder so many Americans are polarised by partisan nonsense.

What a fantastic point!

Let's all go out tonight and burn our cities to the ground!

Not.

The governor does not say violent protests or riots are all right. I believe in our right to do peaceful protests, but these are not peaceful at all. These are some chaotic and hateful people abusing our constitutional rights....that kind of stuff usually results in nothing good. More people are going to wind up hating blacks because of this kind of stuff. The majority of black people are good people. these people who are looting and burning things are not a representation of the good black people in this country, heck half of them are not even black that are doing this stuff.

These riots are driving apart the people of different color, not helping anything. These people are trying to terrorize people not gain support for the black communities. Most of the black people in this country would condemn this destruction of things, just think how many families they could help with the money going up in flames.

Yes, we need to do something about bad cops. But this burning and looting and violence is not going to solve anything, large peaceful protests will help but remember, just because someone is colored does not mean the cops should not shoot the person if they are a threat to them or society. All criminals should be treated the same, no mater what sex or color they are.

Erm, Ricky, I think the point was there's a major disconnect in her logic/honesty, a la "Anti-mask protests = BAD! Two more weeks of lockdown for you, filthy disease spreaders!" while at the same time "Anti-LEO protests are ok, have at it, beloved citizens!"

Bottom line is, if she's going to paddle the state for protesting masks & giving haircuts in Lansing under the claim of preserving health & public safety, then any other kind of protest ranks identically. But she's a two-faced asshat, so that's not going to happen.

I do think that she is a very spoiled and dishonest governor and is not very smart. I do not like her actions and think she is twisting everything to meet her needs. She is definitely not smart with that statement, the State police are guarding her because of threats and she is saying it is ok to put police in harms way and insinuating that police should not do anything to make sure they are not harmed. Why would the police risk their lives to protect someone who is saying that the kind of behavior we are seeing with riots and police bashing is ok.

She is setting herself up for disaster.

A couple of Covid months ago?
Dress up, wear a gun, go to City Hall to protest science?

if that is your level of understanding as to why people protested the COVID lock downs, then your responses start to make total sense.

So that's it no middle ground, you can't see it can you.

It's not ok to burn the city to the ground, why is it you can only see in one extreme to another, there are so many inbeetweens. These events don't just happen out of thin air, it's a build up of tension that leads to this behaviour, people act out when they are desperate. That's not excusing the behaviour it's pointing out the problem is far larger than the people acting out, it's systemic.

Aaaaaand someone went there.

A protest is a protest regardless of topic. Operate them all under the same rules, or don't operate them at all. Period.

Difference between the mask wearers and this "race riot" crap is people didn't use the protests up here over the masks TO BURN OUR TOWNS DOWN. How can you possibly dismiss mask protests and back rioting? WTF??

Some protests are more equal than others.

Lol. I love it. ATS is thoroughly infiltrated by phonies.

The viral picture of the white goatee wearing fatass screaming and gleeking inches from an officers face is "justified rage."

Meanwhile in Minneapolis, stormtroopers were literally shooting pepper/rubber bullets at American citizens on their own front porch.

At least we know for sure who the posers are.

Read my lips: losing your business, your livelihood and your freedom IS being disenfranchised by "the system"

You obviously never built anything from the ground up, or you'd know what these people are losing.

No one disagrees Mr. Floyd's death was wrong. Burning down cities is equally wrong.

Yet you had a problem with lockdown protestors, who did so peacefully.

Smells like hypocrisy.

She's got the gall to say that the First Amendment allows protests, when the United States Supreme Court ruled that churches can be closed because of the virus. Somebody needs to get their # together.

I see it very clearly Mon Capitan.

The point of contention was that a LEO wasn't immediately arrested pending investigation.

The guy was arrested for murder on Friday.

Any civil unrest beyond that is just anarchy using a dead man as an excuse.

These excuses are feeble. What are these "protesting" psychopaths actually demanding?

I've heard nothing of what they're actually trying to achieve.

They are just burning sh1t for the fun of it.

What do you mean by “first”?
Slave days?
Jim Crow?
Water cannons and dogs?
George Wallace?

The Boston Massacre, obviously.

How many were arrested when the whiners were afraid to wear masks to protect their fellow humans?

And do you really think there is some kind of equivalency here?
Lockdowns for epidemics are common sense.
A lot of countries did this right away, and have prevailed so far.

Now, how long have there been racial issues in the US?
Do you think you can or should stop this kind of protest.
It’s come to a boil.

This isn’t about some baby men. Scared of masks.

You have sorely and completely misunderstood the protests against the lockdown in Michigan. It's not about masks, it's about locking us down inappropriately and inconsistently, but most of all illegally. The near 99% bogus "protection" from masks is a secondary issue. When "data" and scientists can't decide if masks are successful or not, as their recommendations have flip-flopped more than a politician, the argument cannot be made to force people to use them.

You totally missed the boat on this one, dude. If you're that scared of the virus, stay home, but leave the rest of us alone.

Your calling the protester a "fatass" immediately discredits your argument. On top of that, you apparently didn't get the memo that the protester wasn't screaming in the face of the officer, there were several feet between the officers and he was between them screaming at the legislators from the hallway. Two dimensional pictures don't give a sense of distance but they do expose people that don't check things out better.

There is a lot of that on the Left. It's what they survive on.

So that's it then you think it's just fun for them, well there's no doubt a small contingent of idiots that have fun looting and burning stuff, however the ones that are genuinely hurting and are desperate enough to walk the streets in an attempt to force change to improve their lives would be disappointed their peers think they are not genuine, plays well into governments hands though as they know the people divided will fail.
