no I did not honestly. I still think, as then, that trump is the so called deep state. He is in cohoots with the billionaires and mafioso and every form of political corruption. That is who the ddep state is to me. The puppet masters behind it all and that is who Trump represents. People are being a false narrative that says he is there to break that which he perpetuates. I think what we can do is really focus on those that seem capable of actual conversation outside the Narrative. There'll still be lots of disagreements, agreements.. and I think we all can slide into the Narrative very easily, so patience is good.

But, I think we can encourage those that are at least trying by focusing our time and effort there. Rather than focusing on those that seem incapable of anything but repeating whatever Authority they worship. Might as well yell at the TV

All the same, its still pretty amazing to me how the conversation about the "deep state" now completely revolves around Trump. Its this bizarre form of amnesia that certainly isnt exclusive to this topic.

Trump will come and go as did Obama, but non-elected officials will still be here for a very long time. Trump was not deep state before and will not be after... Time is the deep state's strongest weapon. I think you do not put much value into the power that basically bureaucrats can hold, and want to think more along the lines of evil billionaires. Well it wasn't evil billionaires pushing FISA warrants, just small groups who wanted to change elections.

He's not elected by the People to be Senate Majority Leader. That is a non-Constitutional position that wields ridiculous power. He quite literally, basically on his own, decides what legislation will come to a vote and which will not.

That power should not belong to one man.

Well except Trump as everyone on both sides was shocked. Hell the right held out as long as they could to endorse him,no one wanted him, wasn't in the script, and both sides can't wait to see him leave.

I've seen a lot of definitions for "Deep State" and they seem to fluctuate wildly according to the political beliefs of the person speaking.

At times, it's synonymous with what we have always called "the bureaucracy." I have no issue with that definition.

At times, it's sort of an update to the conspiracy concept of "the Elite" or "the Powers that Be."

At times, honestly, it's a phantom menace to justify various aspects of the Trump administration

One of the biggest issues I have is when I hear "and so-and-so did this-and-that and they are Deep State."

If the deep state is more like the bureaucracy, then it is a vast Beast of apathy. Nothing gets done because whoever is in charge or in office will be gone in a matter of a few years. Individual small actions may reflect some sort of political belief, but over all, this Beast acts to protect itself, by making sure that nothing changes.

If ithe deep state is more like TPTB, then I can assure you that the actors are forever unknown. These individuals act in secret, at such a profound level and their plans stretch over decades if not centuries. In my understanding ... if you see someone and know their name, they are, no matter how powerful they seem to be, not a member of that group.

If the deep state is the third option, well ... it's a rhetorical device, nothing more.

His remarks are quite clear, he wanted secrecy from the press. He gave a series of speeches about this topic at that time, this isn't the only one.

The deep state is not just in the USA either it is everywhere. Whether you call it new World Order or whatever there are so many people that have allowed greed to haze their character and they are all in it together.
