The Deep State is a bogyman , every Superhero needs a bogyman to fight against and Trump being "the chosen one" is no different.
The "deep state" is a metaphor for anyone/group that can wield positional power and are not voted in, but feel their own beliefs are better for the country than those voted in to office and they have time on their hands to make it happen. We saw a touch of this with the FBI, IRS, DOJ and with areas in the State Department too. I mean using the FICA court as a political weapon is so very deep state wouldn't you say?

So ... Mitch McConnell is Deep State?
Interesting.

no I did not honestly. I still think, as then, that trump is the so called deep state. He is in cohoots with the billionaires and mafioso and every form of political corruption. That is who the ddep state is to me. The puppet masters behind it all and that is who Trump represents. People are being a false narrative that says he is there to break that which he perpetuates. Not sure but there is a blind spot there and a lot of you don't see it. a reply to: Xtrozero

He is elected, but I would not pass by some long in the tooth elected officials too, but the key is the non-elected deep state can pretty much do what they want without the fear of not being reelected, think of the power in that.
The deep state or whatever you want to call it most certainly exists. I guess the question I would ask, is trump a part of it? He certainly meets the membership criteria.

Of course he is! No one gets to be POTUS without being a willing puppet and fully apprised early on of what it entails.

Oops you missed that?
No, I know exactly which speech all of you were going to try and misrepresent.
JFK said he would do everything in his power to stop it too.
He actually went out of his way, scumbag that he was, to ask the press not to publish things.
Someone has linked the speech AM.
Yeah, I know, and it doesn't mean even remotely close to what you think it does.
It requires a change in outlook, a change in tactics, a change in missions--by the government, by the people, by every businessman or labor leader, and by every newspaper. For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence--on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations.

NOT the spirit of what he said AM.
Moss: I think it’s also why it was really important to look back at the history of the movement — their birth in the 1930s, and their anti-labor activism, and the close relationship with fascism. They might say today that it’s ancient history, but that’s the DNA of the organization, of its philosophy and theology. It’s really important to understand. It may seem inflammatory to talk about the work that Abraham Vereide did in postwar Germany, but this is the organization’s history. This is not something we’re speculating about.
Sharlet: When I wrote The Family, I had a chapter called “The F Word.” The F-word was fascism. I said they are not fascist. I said there’s more than one kind of authoritarianism under the sun. I said fascism is impossible in America and American fundamentalism will prevent it. And I think I was wrong. We’re not there yet, but we see the potential. We see just how quickly the theology of the Wolf King can lead us down that road.
